How do you calculate Residual Income in this problem? Washington Company and it's two divisions: Adams Division: Net (After-Tax) Income: $605,000 Operating Assets: $4,000,000 Jefferson Division: Net (After-Tax) Income: $315,000 Operating Assets: $3,250,000 Washington's actual cost of capital was 12 percent. In addition, Washington Company's top management has set a minimum acceptable rate of return equal to 8 percent. This is in my homework but not in the book. Please help. Does anyone know any oppotunities of making extra income without spending much time? I've figured that you can hold a full time job yet there are certain ways of topping up your earnings through using very little time and effot, earning commissions from others in your network marketing levels. Would you consider THIS neo-communism? Actually i just want your feedback as to who's school of thought this is. And I knew that wording would hook you.. Anyway what is this: NO INCOME TAXES on earned income. Government would be financed by passive or residual income alone. The market is why we have a government.! The market needs a common currency and forum for rule making. So let the market pay for it! Consumers would still pay sales/property tax and the market would correct itself. Just fyi, earned income is any money exchanged directly for time / labor. So corporations, investments, the profits off ownership would all continue to be taxed. Businesses would feel some relief though by being able to pay their people less without affecting the take home pay. It is ridiculous that we are getting taxed on our labor. The govt exists for the market. The govt is part of the market. Take the money needed out of the system itself and keep both the system and government self reliant. But support the labor above all else. So top earners would be financing the system. So long as labor thrives the system thrives. The reason that smacks of communism is because it's so empowering to the labor class. It diminishes the financial gap. so yea how would you describe that idea?

I have one question of major importance to me. The payment plan is explained to us as a "residual income" but how they pay us is how many people we recruit as a customer or a rep. The more people we have under us, the more we get payed, also the more people our people under us have, we get payed more too. To me this sounds like a pyramid system. But its not at the same time because everyone can work their way up if they so choose.... I just want to know if being younger I should take my chances with this. I was going to do it on the side on top of my other jobs. I've heard of people making upwards of $30,000 a month (sounds hard to believe i know) by working at this. Fast money's appealing but i'm concerned about anything bad that could happen with this sort of payment schedule. Any ideas/advice/input would be really appreciated. The Company's name is ACN. Is child support fair...? I'm an advocate of taking care of children and I think child support was meant to insure that the child(ren) is financial stable, but sometimes really good guys involved in sour relationship suffer grately out of spite and a system. I think instead of taking a persons pay off top, they should take into account preexisting and residual bills dating back a certain amount of time, subtracted by the cost of living, and/ or take into account both parents income and the percentage that it would take to raise the child(ren). It shouldn't be a set percentage in my opinion. Because, if I can't afford a car, or to let alone catch the bus and feed myself, how am I able to maintain a job? I can't get to work because I can't afford a car or bus fare for a month and I can't afford to take care of myself. FYI, I am happily married w/ two kids. I just had this on my mind and I have a dear friend that's going through similiar situations. God Bless!! Ok for the few rude people, lets use some common sense. First of all we know that children comes first. I have two as I mentioned and would die a thousand deaths for both them and my wife. However, let's look realistically at this issue. If I can't afford to get back and forth to work because child support is taking the overwhelming majority of my check to include health care, dental, fed and state tax, how can I maintain a job to continue support? Remember, cause and effect! I'm ordered to pay "X" amount of dollars, so I can't afford a car and or apartment along with monthly necciesities(i.e food, clothes, water ,light, electric bills) as a result, I lose my job which in turn inable me to pay my obligation. So, does the child really benefit in this particular situation. It's almost like some vs none. I love kids and wish we had better parents, but I also wish this flawed system designed to in some way punish dead beats, hurts the real men/women. Take care

MRI/ssi/medicaid/ medical question please? Not going to go into great detail but im afraid if I get an mri when my back isnot at its worse, it wont show how messed up I really am, which is most of the time. Ugh..its kind of weird, when i'm "stiff" the pain is less but ROM is zilch, when the pain in my back and the residual pain goin down my leg etc is at the worse my rom is better(which is still not normal but better)..On top of that I have,I guess you would say "mild scoliosis" from mid to lower back, I know im messed up and my condition is severe, i'm just not good at communicating that when i am talking to a doctor, not good at descriptive words etc, just a lack of communication basically. I hurt my back jun09, havent worked since oct, was fired in nov as a result of the distress caused by working in pain which led to irratic behavior. I never told anyone what happened,was afraid I would be found negelgant and fired plus it wasnt as bad initially. [I drove otr trk] so they just thought i lost my mind or was actin different for no good reason. Since I didnt report it, its as if it never happened, especially according to certain statutes. I did tell my old dptchr at the beginning of loa what happened and was the reason for my behavior via email, which is why i was terminated in nov(said by me emailing her it was harassement,funny that 1st email didnt come up in the termination meeting So..took a loa in oct, fired in nov, of course no uei when the adjudicator sees on the sep notice I was fired for "harassing" a female employee..so, ive been outta work since oct, spent my entire savings of 6000, no income, no med insur. Dont have med insur/money because I cant work,cant work cuz i need to see a doctor but cant, cant see a doctor cuz I have no insur er $.. I have an appt with ss office in a few weeks about possible ssi(splmntl, am only in my 20's, cant and not ready to retire, just need some med help..), i dont know what to tell them I was readin that if there is lack of initial med proof, u could be denied, I havent been able to go to a specialist yet so no med records for them, they send u to 1 of their doctors? what if the guy at the ss office wont even do that? I truly am screwed up, most doctors are like the one i went to a few months ago, condescending, is that how the ss dr will be, will i be able to get an mri? should i get one somehow before i go? Can I get medicaid while im waiting? What do i need to have with me and what do i need to tell them at the ss office to ensure i get the help i need and am not turned down from get go.Anyone know how this all works?
