Any legit at home business or ideas for business to start? I worked for a big corporation for almost 8 years, in the IT dept. for the last three. I lost my job due to downsizing. Unfortunately, since then I acquired a Felony on my record, due to an altercation on the road. (More or less a road rage incident). So now my chance at a reputable company has just about diminished. Any ideas for a fairly simple business to start? At home business? Any type of business? I am both mechanically and technically inclined, computer and internet savvy, overall I have above average intelligence (yeah right, I have a felony!) with an education. Any recommendations? Help!!!!!!!
How do I get my home business website listed on search engines for no money? A friend who has an earthlink account asked me to throw up a simple site to showcase his home business, get it listed, and spend no money. I succeeded, but am having trouble with the submission to search engines. I picked up a listing in MSN, YAHOO and GOOGLE. I submitted only the home page, not every single page. I used meta statements, but am not sure anymore how much they are used. The text on the home page amply describes the business and could be used in lieu of metastatements. The ranking seems to have fallen over the last couple of months. I haven't done this kind of thing for a few years, so I'm not sure about metastatements, or if there is some cheap or free software that will assist in the submission process. If I was allowed to spend money, I could probably have it listed and rank fairly well, but within the "no money" guidelines, what more can I do to ensure his site does, if not well, at least better. Thank You.
Can anybody explain to me, in plain and simple words, how writing off business expenses work? I have searched other questions on here and come up with one Best Answer that directed me to the IRS website, but I am still unclear. I have a home-based Administrative, Secretarial and Computer Training business that I work on part-time, in addition to my full-time job. I applied for the Tax ID Number about 3 years ago, but haven't done anything with the business until three or four months ago. I now have one client, who has paid me a total of $170 so far this year. I have four business accounts and have purchased some minor office supplies (stapler, paper, camera, paperclips, pens, etc.). I also purchased a new desktop computer with my business account. I have a room setup as an office in my home. If don't think I'll make over $400 this year because I am still trying to figure out ways to advertise. If I don't make a profit, do I have to pay taxes? I saw something about the IRS wanting you to make a profit within 3-5 years, but what if I don't? I really don't plan on purchasing any other major office supplies until I get some more business. I recently got a tax form from the IRS saying I needed to file taxes, but on what? I made no income from the business, except in 2007 which is the $100 something dollars I mentioned earlier. I understand that I can write off anything that is related and necessary for my business. I also understand that I should keep track of everything (gas mileage, etc.). Say for instance, if I have a business gas card and I use $100 for personal gas and $100 for business gas, do I just deduct the business gas? What if I spend more money trying to advertise and get the business up and running, than I make? Let's say I spend $2,000 in 2008 but I only make $500. Does that mean I have a loss of $1,500? I really can't afford an Accountant so I am trying to figure this out on my own. I think I can get it if somebody can explain it to where I can understand it. Any help that you can provide!

Divorcing .. She want home...? I am very torn right now with a major choice I have to make regarding my pending divorce. This may be long so please forgive me... Facts: Married 21 years 2 kids (14-11) I make 70% of household income She has ran a home business for 10 years I admit fully to being an "ok" husband. What I mean by that is I've been a workaholic and have spent far too much time at the office but I truly felt I was doing the right thing by working all the time to provide for them. By doing this, I allowed her to do far too much. I'm simply being honest. I didn't realize how mch work a stay at home mom does until I found myself on my own. She asked to separate last year and I agreed hoping it would be a short-term thing. Well, one night after our separation, I came home and found emails from a "guy friend" who I don't know. Very inappropriate emails (not exactly sexual but very inappropriate for mother of 2). I was devistated and she told me that she had kissed him. She explained that I had paid her little to no attention in a few years and that this person started showing her attention and that she simply had a "weak" moment. Sure, I had paid little attention to her romantically or physically. That was a huge mistake but not one that should have allowed an affair I thought. Well, one year later we're in divorce court. I have two sons that I love very much. We have had some great financial difficulties due to a failed business (thanks to the recession). She was working but I learned today that she quit her job. She asked me if she could remain in OUR home until she gets back on her feet financially. She wants to keep the loan in BOTH of our names but we forclosed on a piece of property a few months ago and I'm positive she can't get the home refinanced for YEARS. Her plan was simple. She wanted to divorce and have me (at age 38) move in with my parents until we get our fiances straight. This will take years if ever. Then she wanted me to continue to have my pay checks deposited in her bank account and she would simply send me spending money. In October I had had enough and I routed my pay to my own personal checking account and cut her off completley (I left her $40,000 in the bank). When the property foreclosed the bank wiped out her checking account and now she is flat broke and unemployed. I know many will write and say "let her lie in the bed she made"..however, I don't want to see her miserable as I know had I been a better husband she'd never have left and both of our lives (and kids) would be better today. No, I never once laid a hand on her. I just wasn't there for her with the small things like a good husband should be. I didn't appreciate what I had until it was too late. However, she gave me little to no time to work out our problems before she had this "affair" (of course she says it was leading noweher but who knows) and then just gave up on us. Now I am faced with the huge dilema of the house. My attorney STRONGLY suggests insisting on making her get out in 6 months and selling the house so my name will not be associateed with it. I am fine with that but my oldest child will be a senior in high school next year. He makes straight A's and loves the home/area and he had NOTHING to do with our breakup. If I follow the lawyers advice and general common sense I make her sell it but I want to be a stand up dad and I'm afraid that if I do this my kids will never forgive/forget what I made them do. I used to trust this woman 100%. Now I just can't trust her. She does not have the income to live in this home. PLEASE share your thoughts.

Does anyone have a home day care business plan/guide they would share with me? I'm in Monterey, CA.? I am opening a home day care in Pacific Grove, CA. I will be attending the state orientation on Monday, Jan 10th. I want to provide care for infant thru elementary after school children, but mostly will have preschoolers. I am looking for a simple guide to running a day care and a start up business plan specifically for a home day care. Something specific to my state of CA would be great, but other States welcome. I am also looking for forms, contracts, food menus, just anything that will help me start my business. I have been an office manager for several years so the business aspect is no problem, I just really need info on the nuts and bolts of the actual day to day operations. Thanks to any who can help.
Best home business ideas?? I'm 23 years old and I've been on a off about starting a home based biz I seen the travel biz is the new trend, advertising, mystery shopping, selling candles, and a few others. I'm trying to ask people who are doing well, but not so well that it sounds too good to be true. Something with a low start-up cost. would be great. Right now I'm working at Home Depot in the lot, boiling in the sun ( Florida ). The job market is really slow in my area and my bills are beating me down. I know a lot of you would say " find a better job" " thats life deal with it" blah blah blah I've tried these things and It's not that simple . I'm just looking for some ideas I would really appreciate it. What are the hottest business trends right now. I'd be willing to invest a lot of time. Also I would be willing to possibly take out a small loan. Really looking for something where I could make $1000 a wk or close to it. Thanks for reading.
I'm looking for a home business. Something reputable, something with a good system to follow... Any insights? I've tried a number of home businesses in the past, but am seriously looking for a good one now... With the crap hitting the ceiling with jobs and all - it's time to take the bull by the horns and make something happen for myself with alternative income streams. And, I have learned over the years that whatever I do, requires to have a real system in place so I can just plug into it. I don't have time to waste setting up everything under the sky before I get going. And I was shocked to see that so many opportunities don't have this simple concept taken care of. I'm tired of looking and looking. Does anyone have any experience with any successful home based businesses? I want something plug and play.. a nice franchise type home business And guys, a real business that makes a real income (I'm looking for at least $250K my 1st year) does require start up capital and work - I get that - PLEASE don't suggest to me any "mickey mouse" businesses.
What would I have to prepare myself with to just start a simple clothing / t shirt business? There was a boy at my school last year, who started his own t-shirt design company. Meaning, he would order t-shirts in bulk, and iron-on designs. They actually turned out nice. I would like to do this, but, possibly with an actual clothing line. I've designed many pices of clothing, and would love to do more. What would I need to do this, if it was basically only going to be an at-home business, and basically only available to people I have connections with already? Would I need a business liscense?
Does anyone fancy a really home-based business oppotunity without putting much time into it? The company is called XanGo and it has done better than Ebay and Yahoo in its first year. Sherman Okkafer who used to be in the banking industry came up with a very simple system that works. His business grew in 36 months to earn him a 6 figure income and a turnover of $150 million. If your interested in finding out why XanGo is so successful visit my website: www.mymangosteen.com/ paulhanson If you require any other information or would like to ask any other questions regarding XanGo and its benefits please email me at paulbryhanson@yahoo.co.uk otherwise just answer the question at the top and I will get in touch with you. If an inexpensive refit was widely available, would you do this in your home or business to conserve water? I've spent much of the last 3 years living on a sailboat. We can stay out for 6 weeks before refilling our 100-gallon water tank. Here in the US, each American averages 150 gallons every DAY. This is far and away more than any other country in the world. On the boat, we use a foot pump to draw water into our sink. Every full down/up cycle of the pump gives us 1/2 cup of water. If we wish to fill a pasta pot or a kettle, we rapidly pump several cycles and water flows quite fast. Our water never flows freely without action from the foot pump. I was amazed at how quickly we adapted to its use, and how much we enjoyed the hands-free element of it. So I wonder if all you citizens of the world (especially in water-strapped regions) would consider implementing this change if it was easy enough to do... If there was a easy way to adapt a simple foot pump to the pressure water in your home, would you do it? Would you be willing to adjust to a slightly less convenient method of getting water from your faucet? What about in your shower? Would you be willing to shampoo and bathe yourself while operating a foot pump? Sure, your dishwasher and laundry would run as usual, but could you get used to the change in your faucet? Would you embrace the idea? What if it cost less than $50 per faucet? I imagine there is a way to accomplish this, but I'm an editor not an engineer. Can anyone with related knowledge speak on the subject? Can such a pump even work with a pressurized system? Here is the pump we use on the boat: http://www.whalepumps.com/marine/product_list/1/13/ And if it really seemed feasible and I wanted to become an advocate for this widespread change, how would I start? I currently live in a small town in Alaska. If you can't understand that the point here is water conservation for the greater good, then don't bother responding.
Would you buy this this for your home/business? I have developed a very sophisticated way to utilize water separation ( see Rainbow vacuum cleaner history and design) in an upright vacuum cleaner. As a retrofit to existing bag model vacuum cleaners all that is required is putting about a cup and a half of water in my unit and install it just as you would a paper vacuum cleaner bag. When you are finished vacuuming you simply remove the unit and hold it over the sink and pull down on the 'liquid release' lever. After all of the dirty water is released you dispose of the solid waste into a trash container by pulling down lever a little further . That's it! Since you are already at the sink go ahead and give it a quick rinse, refill it and install it back in the vacuum. So now you are ready to go on to the next vacuuming. Since it is hermetically sealed you don't have to worry about tipping or evaporation so it is safe to store with clean water. Now for those of you wondering how the water is kept from escaping into the motor of the vacuum, take a look at some of the earlier Rainbow canisters and you will see that with the separator not spinning with the motor turned off you can literally see the motor through the slots on the separator. With the motor spinning the slots become quicker than Wonder Woman's wristbands at deflecting the dirty water back down into the water reservoir , but the air is able to be sucked right past these spinning slots on the separator. That is the ingeniously simple mechanical principle of water separation. So how do you know when to empty and refill? There is a simple mechanical Whistler loud enough to be heard over even the loudest vacuums. Who am I? I'm a professional carpet cleaner in Columbus, Ohio Tell me what you think of my device and if you would buy one if it was on the market. I would like to talk to an industrial designer and anyone who understands the copyright privileges concerning the 70 plus year old separator technology pioneered by The Rainbow Vacuum Cleaner company. Thanks, and BTW this NOT an advertisement for anything just a conceptual pondering. I do have models still in the design stages, and have developed a vital component that works in conjunction with the separator for the product I described above, but nothing is for sale and am not implying so. I am a Hoover expert and I like them best too, but there are dozens of manufactures of vacuums out there, and every vacuum design has it's purpose. Water is actually a very good thing when it comes to making your vacuuming life easier. Still there are those out there ( my sister is one of them) who just feel dirty when they see dirty water. I on the other hand love to see that filthy water because it means that my floor no longer has the dirt on it and the dirtier the better.

Advice on starting our own business? Hello All, Ok so like most people I am tired of working for corporate America. I would really like to own my own business. My fiance and I are having a child in 4 months from now and we've of course want to get on track with that first and foremost. But we are also really thinking about starting our own business in the next 2-3 years after we buy our own home and we both finish school. I will be graduating soon with my degree in Criminal Justice and him with his degree in Exercise Science. My degree would be something I could fall back on. Anyhow I would like to get ideas and opinions on what kinds of business we might want to start. It doesn't need to be get rich quick but really just a lucrative, simple business we could both run?
What are some simple or creative ideas to live frugally? I am 23-years old and would love to hear people's input on how to live frugally in every aspect of life (cooking, childrearing, grocery shopping, health, automotive, pursuing one's education, to better one self, etc.). I am looking on how to cut costs in every avenue of the household, including my mobile phone which is a contract not prepaid that's for emergencies or keep in contact with my father. I also would like to know (starting next Christmas rush) how people plan financially for Christmas and if homemade food gifts are really worth the frugal hype. My goal is to save wisely and don't use credit unless it's for home ownership, educational and medical purposes or to start a business. Please keep in mind I'm finally starting out on my own. Your suggestions and input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Legitimate new business owner, soon to dropship, but question to any distributors in which dawned on me today? I just recently established my business, obtaining all the required documentation and credentials to do legitimate business. I am just getting started so I have very limited capital (just over $2500, but will spend some of them for my website I am getting graphically designed, and SEO friendly) to work with. My actual credit is bad after a huge mess a couple of years back with an X-fiance who took me for a ride : ( So I have begun the first stages of interaction with legitimate wholesale distributors to set-up retail accounts to sell their products. I am also working with some of them who agreed to dropship for me. I have marketing and sales plans and everything I can possibly think of to get my business going. But then it dawned on me today, with no credit, and having to find and institute a merchant credit account (which i hear is hard for home businesses), I have a problem that totally slipped my mind when setting up my business plan. First problem is finding a merchant account. My second big problem is if I do they only deposit once a week. How can I expect my customers to wait a week for my merchant account to deposit their funds in my bank account before I can order their product, and then they have to wait the time it takes my manufacturers/ distributors to ship them the product. We're talking 2 weeks there. They would just find another seller. Then I thought maybe I can see if merchant accounts can split the payment, net profit to me and cost to distributor. But what if there is a chargeback so I knew that would not work. Maybe I could have the distributor take the payments and they deposit the net sales into my bank account. For one thing why would they go through so much trouble for a new retailer, that would look pretty bad on me to even ask as they would have to incure the CC companies charges on my sales which would be out of the question. Not to mention chargebacks. It would not work for me. It would seem a simple enough thought to say why not just pay for it out of my own capital in my bank account as I would get the money plus net sales deposited within a week from merchant account (my first thought when this all dawned on me). Then I realized that the demand of too many products at once (which could easily happen in one day) could end up exceeding my current capital in my bank account and then I end up screwed looking bad on both sides. Paypal holds your money for 21 days to make sure there are no chargebacks so that would not work. No distributor would even think of extending a line of credit this early in business. Does anyone have any idea first to the thought of getting a merchant account, and secondly to the dilemma in accepting the payment and paying distributor for shipment of goods? Sorry I wrote a book, and thank you for any and all feedback.

How to setup a small home network? Hi Everyone, I'm looking to set up a small home network for a home business. The wiring is in place as the business was running a full network, but then some bad things happened and the server was stolen. I currently have this setup with two external drives for the document retreival. One for the storage, one to back it up. these are My book live WD drives. My question is, I'm looking for a small out of the box network solution. My network days are 15 years ago so I am not sure whats out there. The basic needs are the document repository and retrieval, and a back it. simple. Currently the systems OS is XP, but they will be upgrading to Windows7 in a couple of months. If you require more info let me know, but I'm looking for a simple solution for this. Thanks!
I have been self employed for 19 years? as a residential re-modeler. I have been looking for work for 4 moths and have had absolutely NO results. I have no college education, I am 37, married, with four children. I cannot get a job as a worker because I wind up being "over qualified". What can I do to change this? I have a resume, and have had three separate businesses in 19 years (business names/ changed for marketing purposes) I have great references, and the resume overall is simple to read, and nicely laid out. This is hitting hard. I gave up looking for roughly two weeks out of four months and My wife seems to believe that not having work is 100% my vary fault. This economy is not in good shape at all, and all of us in the home improvement industries are fairly heavy hit. I have tried applying for design positions, sales, general labor, manufacturing, and services such as auto repair, and appliance installation. I am extremely frustrated and have even seen a job counselor with little help at all to be offered. It seems a kid out of high school has a better chance being hired for better pay than I. I would be okay at even $15 per hour but no such luck.
I only date girls 18-24 years old. Is this wrong? A little bit about myself: I am a 37 year old Orthodontist from Indiana. I graduated dental school in 2000 and have since established a successful practice where I make over 400,000 y/r. I also own quite a few small businesses. Last year, I brought in over 1.5 million in total earnings. I have worked hard my entire life for my success, and now I'm enjoying it. I live a simple life. No pets, kids or marriage. I don't like TV, music or pop culture. I don't have a TV or stereo, and I only use a computer for business reasons and surfing the net. I don't like to watch or participate in sports. I don't follow traditions like: Christmas, Easter, Mother's Day etc... I don't like social gathering. Nope, the only thing I enjoy in life are : making money and being with beautiful girls. My daily routine is to go to work, make my money and go out with a beautiful girl every night. Not only do the girls I go out with have to be beautiful, they cannot be older than 24. I like girls young. Being a single rich man is awesome. Most men think I have the best lifestyle ever, being able to bring a 18-24 year old girl home every night. However, many women I have discussed my lifestyle and preference in women with get really offended. They call me pathetic for dating 18 and 19 year old girls. What is pathetic about it? 18-24 year old girls are the BEST. Youthful, energetic and optimistic. Plus, hot young girls know they're hot and that is attractive to me. They know they dominate all other females in society because they're hot and young. I like girls who know they are alpha females.
what would you do if you were forced out of your business and had to let others live in your home? I remember asking dad about Castro when I was about 9 years old. I asked, "Is Castro a good guy or bad?"Dad said...he couldn't tell!! This was about 1955. We were living in Louisiana ...at the time. Dad was in the Army there. Cuba was fairly close and in the news a lot. The Cubans were asking the same question! Ike was president. This past July, we had the pleasure of sharing a summer barbecue with a refugee from Cuba . Our dinner conversation was starkly different than most. This refugee came to the United States as a young boy in the early 1960's. His family was more fortunate than most, as they were able to bring a suitcase...and $100 when they fled Castro's newly formed revolutionary paradise. Our dinner consisted of all-American fare: hamburgers, potato salad, watermelon and fresh ears of sweet corn. This is a menu shared with family and friends nationwide...while celebrating the birth of our beloved America ...on the Fourth of July. We began with a simple discussion about our country, and the direction it has taken since Barack Obama came to power. We shared the usual complaints about the sour economy and liberal social engineering emanating from the rulers in Washington . But then he said it. The sentence came naturally. I assume it was unplanned. But it carried the weight of a freight train. "You know when Castro took power, none of us knew he was a Communist". We sat stunned. He continued, "Yes, we all thought he was a patriot, a nationalist. Before the revolution he didn't sound like a radical." The comparison at this point was easy, and I interjected, "You mean just like Barack Obama?"He responded; "Yes, just like Barack Obama." He continued, "We were all shocked as the government just continued to grab more power. First they said the revolution is over, so please turn in your guns. We all complied." I remember my uncle saying after it started; “ Castro will only nationalize some of the big industries. He will never come and take our family hardware store!! ” But that is exactly what happened. Castro started with the sugar mills and the large industries, but they eventually came and knocked on the door of our family hardware store. My family had run this store for generations. They said we now own the hardware store, you work for us. And that nice, large four-bedroom home you own...it is now our property also, and...you can move yourself and five children into two rooms of the house, because others are moving in with you." The lesson learned from this discussion, is a lesson most Americans refuse to hear. Political leaders can lie about their agenda and once in office...they can take totally unexpected turns. If you had asked us three years ago if we thought General Motors would be nationalized, we would have never believed it. We could never contemplate a country where the rule of law, the most fundamental building block of a justice society...would be evaporating, just like it did in Castro's Cuba in the early 1960's. But the news of injustice keeps increasing. Black Panthers are not charged with wrong doing by the U.S. Department of Justice...because their crimes are against whites. The bondholders of GM are stripped of their assets...without due process by the government! Governmental leaders are bribed in full daylight...only to have all investigation of the crimes stifled...by the Attorney General. The U.S. borders are over run with crime and illegal activity, and the leaders in D.C. act as if it is important to protect the lawbreakers...while the innocent are killed and over run . When local communities attempt to enforce the law, they are ridiculed...and threatened as racists and bigots . They are sued by the very administration...entrusted with enforcing the law . Without the rule of law, the U.S. Constitution is a sham!! Without the rule of law, our beloved America is swiftly becoming a country where only the well connected and politically powerful will be safe. As Michelle Malkin has so eloquently explained in her recent book... a culture of corruption has replaced honest government . The only way this problem will be fixed, is by massive citizen action. All honest citizens that want to be treated equally, must come together...and demand that the favoritism, the bribes, the uneven enforcement of law...end now!! And yes, it can happen here .And...may God save the United States of America !

What should I be looking for in buying a new computer, possibly networking with my older one? I used to be pretty good with computers, knowing what’s what and such, but I’m finding myself a bit overwhelmed at the moment. I have a 5 year old HP computer, that when I bought it was top of the line and has done me proud. But I’ve been entertaining the idea of getting a second computer for a while now. Possibly a Dell. I use my HP mainly for writing, publishing, casual work at home business, and of course internet access. The purpose of the second computer is entirely for fun – gaming!, music, movies, pictures, and other medias – but also – internet access. So, how do I do this? Is my answer as simple as splitting the internet line so that I can have both computers online at the same time? Or should I be looking into some small business computer with networking functions? Any suggestions regarding what I should be looking for? (because let me tell you how very UNeducated the people are at say, Best Buy … ugh) Anyway. Thanks for your help!
Simple financing in Excel for personal business? Hey, I've looked online for templates and such but didn't really come up with much. My small business is in Repairs. So all I really need is an Excel spreadsheet (I have windows excel home and student 2010) Could someone explain how i could make one with some basic formula. Basically, I need a column for costs such as parts, and then the final invoice bill. And hopefully i can have a box to the side that will work out the final balance for that month/year. Thanks, ~D
Should I refinance current home? We also want to purchase second home.? Our current mortgage rate is fixed at 7% on a remaining $63K. We were advised by a broker to refinance, rent the smaller house that we currently live in and get our next bigger house. Once the housing prices go up(could take years), we could then decide whether or not to sell the smaller house. It sounds logical with the current rates, but is it that simple? Is he just wanting my business or is this good advise?
Quicken, how does one "jump in" and learn how to use it for the first time ? I am good with numbers and have done simple budgets for my household over the years, I'm in my 50's, but I have Quicken 2007 Business and home and I'm thinking I don't want to transport my banking info online. Can I do quicken manually and is the dummie book for it good ? I bought it cheaper without a printed out manual. HElp ? I just want to start small and I'm on a fixed income so it should be easy to start ?
I Need advice (Business wise) on how to start a professional music studio & a workspace for visual arts.? Any help is greatly appreciated. I am a 21 Year old music producer, I have been producing from home for 5 years now. At the moment, im working minimum wage trying to save for some better studio equipment. I have no money, no line of credit, and no collateral... Though I do have Talent, and a lot of it. Not to brag, but I make instrumentals that are radio worthy. I know almost everything you need to know when it comes to recording and being a music producer. I am excellent at creating mixtape/album cover's via Adobe Photoshop. and I am also really good at creating & editing music videos. My goal is to combine all three into a business were customers can achieve their artistic goals be it audio/visual through my company. I already have customers willing to pay for my services but I don't have a place to accomplish it. I have already done the Home studio set up and although its a minor success, The fact of the matter is people want to pay to record in a professional studio environment with professional studio quality. Not a small setup at someones home. The problem at hand is simple....Money. and none of it. I have done the correct calculations for the expenses, equipment, copy-writes, promotion, rent etc.And In order to achieve a legit professional recording studio you would need an average of 80 - 100 Grand, But that's being generous. It would probably cost a lot less, or maybe more. I have consulted with other businessmen and they said my chances of getting a bank loan is almost impossible with no credit, not a solid income, and no collateral. This industry has a lot of potential for generating a high income. but like the old saying goes - "You Need Money, To Make Money". I just don't think its fair that I have all this talent to be exposed but the only thing holding me back is money. But life's not fair right? and asking people to invest on my talent is out of the question because I think they will not want to invest in something that is not a material object. So what should I do? How can I get started in opening my business, If i can't get resources from the bank, investors, and other people. Like how do other people do it who have nothing and somehow get money for their business. I realize that it will take a lot of hard work and saving here and there, but If I'm earning minimum wage, and I can't get a better job because of my lack of education, how am I suppose to save money when I have to spend every cent I get on bills, family, and other expenses. Again, Any help/advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read my question/problem. Thanks, - Brian
Legitimate work from home due to disability? I see this asked a lot, but I'll throw this out there and hope someone knows of some legitimate ways to earn a paycheck from home... but I have a feeling I'll get slammed with spam from the scammers. So here's my situation/goals: I'm disabled and have been for many years now, and am on Social Security Disability (SSDI). So, if I want to increase my income, it has to be from home due to my particular disability. I'm currently trying to buy a home, but because of my low income, my debt-to-income ratio is so high, the lenders want me to put ridiculous amounts of money down on a mortgage. I can't afford the insane down payments they want. What I need is a legitimate source of income - as the lenders want to see 2+ months of paychecks as proof of the income - that can raise my monthly income to a more attractive level to the greedy lenders. Things I can't/won't use: The typical backwards scams where you have to pay the "employer". The other various obvious scams... "Earn $250,000 a month from home!!!" Anything with a wildly variable income that would make lenders believe the income to be unreliable ($1500 one month, nothing the next, $200 the next, etc). Now, I understand that some people have found legitimate work from home with a business-type situation that required a small initial investment. I definitely wouldn't be against this sort of thing - if it's really legitimate. These things we hear about all the time where you put $100 down and they create and maintain your free website, drop-ship their products you choose to sell, etc etc, all sound wonderful, but a little too good to be true. That's all I can really think of for now. I'm just looking to increase my monthly income to reduce my debt-to-income ratio. Nothing spectacular, nothing too good to be true, and nothing illegitimate. $500 a month would do wonders. $1000 a month would obviously be even better. But I'm realistic, and am not looking for some scheme that claims it's going to make me a millionaire. Although, if you happen to know someone who's looking to rid themselves of a million bucks, I suppose I'd accept. Well, there it is. Hopefully someone reading this understands my situation, and what I'm looking for, and is aware (or even involved in themselves) of something along these lines. A simple, legitimate increase in monthly income.
Employer Fica Match (2 jobs)? This is a simple question, but complex to explain perhaps, but here goes nothing: I have 2 jobs. Job 1 will max out my social security contribution as my pay is >97500. Job 2 is a home business, with me as the sole employee. Question: I know that if I withhold social security from job 2, I will personally get a refund at tax time (happened this year). BUT, my home business, which has to match the contribution, does not get a refund. So, can I simply not deduct social security from my job 2 paycheck? And, correspondingly, can I avoid the company match altogether by doing this? Or, will the IRS look from a company point of view and say "you have to match the first 97500 from each employee, period"? The employee can then get a refund, but the company is out of luck.
Decorator Consultant and Starting a Business How?? Don't know where to start, Will it work? Hello, Hoping to find some friendly suggestions... I worked for at a large coorperation in Custom Decorating as a decorator consultant for 10 years thus I have 10 years of custom window treatments sales, I do have color skills and decorating skills, measuring, fabric knowledge. Since the big economy fell my lucritive $60,000 commission checks have diminished last year, we lost our home, cars You get the point.. I decided to leave the company to take care of my son till he starts kindergarten and get some good mommy time since I had been so busy before. Now he is starting school and I cant return to the company I so loved, Problem is that there is no openings and the business is overpriced I always though and not doing good , they are stuggling with about $1500 income a month. Decorating is my passion and helping people. I want to stay in this field since its something I love to do and wake up every day looking forward to work and creating something new, everyday is different. I have been considering starting my own business as a decorator/shopper. I can paint, draw murals (simple ones) Cartoons/ palm trees/ rock etc... I have painted several homes I have lived in myself and my brother is a professional painter I could hire him for big jobs and just try to buy the equiptment myself. I LOVE shopping and I am really good at coordinating and finding deals. I was thinking $25 hr plus 10% commission for items purchased, I am going to be Frugal and real competitive in this economy, any help or adivise would be very appricated! My husband is out of work too, but he would be happy and willing to help, like installing window treatments, errands etc. I was thinking possibly I could find a seamstress and do some simple drapes/panels as well. Any help on how to get this off the ground with little to no money and any ideas would be so appriciated. I am well known in my city with lots (hundreds) of happy customers from my 10 years with that company.
Which online backup program / site / company would you recommend? I have a few rather specific requirements. Firstly, I am a simple home user, not a business. Although I do work from home. I am also a uni student. Secondly, I am not at all interested in the type of deal where any file that you delete from your home computer is also deleted from the backup. WTF is with that, anyway? Thirdly, I am not a rich man. This also relates to the last point, because if my computer carks it, I might not be able to replace it for up to a couple months, or at least a few weeks. So for peace of mind I would like to know that my stuff will be sound for months or even years if need be. I had a 500g external hard-drive but I dropped the bastard once from a height of approximately five centimetres and now the bugger is completely buggered. I have lots of word documents, .pdfs, etc. for uni and work. I also have lots of music and many television programs. The usual rubbish, nothing special - point is, I love it all and I don't want to lose it. I have about 300g of stuff in total and I'm assuming that I will build that up to around 1tb within the next few year. So I need space! And lots of it! I'm into the whole "cloud computing" concept. I am very mobile and I write all my essays using Google Docs. Simple recommendations would be great but links to reviews or discussion boards on the matter would be much appreciated. Many thanks to all who have bothered to read this far. May countless blessings fall upon those who take the time to help a brother (that is, I and/or I) out. Peace. Okay - so if you can't be bothered reading the whole thing, how about answering this one: Are either MOZY or CARBONITE any good? Do they fit the bill of what I have described above? Many thanks yo! Aha! NO - CARBONITE IS NO GOOD! "We currently keep deleted files in your backup for 30 days. After that, we’ll purge any files that are no longer on your computer." -- http://www.carbonite.com.au/faqs/restoring-your-files/ Sure, BackupandShare.com sounds great... but the 10g limit ain't. Thanks for trying. Or advertising.
Did your relationship with your mother worsen after you left home? I left home over ten years ago. I was the last to leave, but left it as long as I could. In hindsight, this was a bad idea...because my mom does'nt have the best relationship with my other three siblings, she became more dependant on me. She still adores them of course because they turned out 'normal' whereas I am her messed up son. That's her view, even though she has'nt said it, at least not for nearly twenty years. While I may not be ideal, I have always done my best for her, and the other three, in contrast, do nothing for her. Anything I do for her seems to be taken forgranted. Her words and actions are two different things. When we do fight, she says sorry but does'nt seem to change for the better. So, now that I work for myself (I like many could not get re-employed since redundancy last year) she thinks I have much more time to go and visit her. She does'nt understand I have to get the business in, and she has to be secondary to that. I was visiting her every week, but now I have to cut even that down because she upset me so much and lays guilt on me every week saying things like 'I have no one, just the tv to watch'..'I am on my own' (her choice) and 'you used to call me three times a day' (I was working full time and actually had more time then, strange as that sounds). She never mentions what the other three should be doing. I even tried to teach her simple exercises to keep fit, and train her on my old pc so she could have it. But she is not interested. All her efforts seem to be aimed at bringing me down. I know she wants me to move back home, but that will never happen. How do you cope with your parents now? I am sorry she is on her own, and seemingly suffers from anxiety attacks but could fly to Singapore to see my brother. I even put her on match.com to see if any decent guys could be matched with her. But she is retired, divorced, and bitter. I've had serious health problems like a brain aneurysm and SVT (heart condition) to deal with this year and I need her to give me a break. How would you handle it? like I said, she refuses help. I had home visitors for her, she hates me for it. She just wants me back home so I can be as miserable as she is.

Just a regular job like typing or processing billing payments, data entry, customer services or something to that effect. Were a person who has a family can be with there children, and still earn the money to provide a good life for them. So again Real on Not? Tangible or just another Internet white unicorn? business aquisition question? I have a very simple question...say someone was selling their business for $2,000,000, the gross income was $6.5M and the "take home" net income to the owner per year is $1.2M a year. Could a potential buyer suggest that the owner 100% finance the sale, with instead of paying $2M upfront, he pay $1M a year for 4 or 5 years instead? is there a name for that & does it ever work? It would seem like a win-win situation, the old owner would take home much more than what he was asking, and someone with-out the capital & resources to obtain funding, could obtain the business they were after. does this happen ever?

How do I forgive my mother for everything she put me through as a child? I am 23 stay at home mother of a one and two year old. My father never played a magor role in my life, given I only saw him about once every 5 years. From the time I was born, until I was 18, my mother had been married 6 times. When I was 6 she married a guy, he was really nice to me while they were dating. But when they got married, things changed for the worse, he became verbally and physically abusive towards me. One incident that stands out in my mind the most was when I was seven. My mother had fallen(and at 7 you think because your parent gets hurt, they are going to like die) I nicely asked him to hand me the phone so I could call my grandparents to let them know. He then proceeded to hit me upside the head with a cordless telephone, he hit me so hard, it broke the metal antena on the phone. After he hit me, my head hit the refridgerator and I passed out. I saw her hit him many times as well. My mother considered being separated, by taking me to wal mart for a couple of hours and then going home right back to it. It finally came to a hault when I was 13 and he molested me. But she kicked me out and sent me to my grandparents. My grandparents have always been like my parents and I love them so much. Last night while over at my mom's house(she is no longer married and living with my 15 year old sister), She had boxed up some of me and my sisters toys from our childhood. My father, while he was in the Persian Gulf War, would send me really nice things, and they mean the world to me. And I would notice, as a child, my favorite toys would come up missing. Well, when I was 12 my Step father, who did all of this other stuff to me, finally admitted that he threw all of my favorite toys in the sewer. Last night, when I opened these boxes, I started crying because I found one that I thought had been tossed in the sewer, my mother started crying because I told her, I wanted to hang onto these things because I had no childhood. She doesnt know it, but I hold alot of resentment against her because of the simple fact that I went through this for NINE years of my childhood and she never left him. And something else that hurts is, she never wants my one and two year old to stay the night with her. She wants to charge me $150.00 a day to keep them, which I can't afford. She acts very proud of her grandkids in public, but she always has an excuse as to why she can not keep them, and this hurts me because my husbands father lives in Texas my father lives in Oklahoma, and my kids dont really get to see them. My mother in law sees them alot, but she doesnt keep them. She is 70 and has a house cleaning business. It just makes me feel like my mother on the inside wants nothing to do with her grandkids. How do I get over all the hurt that my mother has put me through? My father is not around, I want to be close to my mother but dont know how to get over all of this
What would you do if a child you cared for was riding in the front seat? A child that I care for rides home every day in the front seat of the car with the seatbelt tucked behind him. He is 4 years old and about 50 lbs. He should be in the back seat, in a booster according to the law. He also brags that when his mom drives past a cop he has to lay his seat back so noone sees him. What would you do?? In addition to this, the child is mildy delayed (does not know colors, counting, letters, simple shapes (circle, square etc...)). This I can work with , but I am growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of parenting. I'm interested in hearing from anyone who has experienced this as well as parents who let their 4 year olds ride up front, despite the increased knowledge about auto safety and air bag dangers to children. What should I do?? Mind my own business- or say something?
What type of business license should we apply for? At the beginning of 2010 my wife is starting her own at-home small business selling a relatively inexpensive handmade product. For now, the only people that will be involved in the business are the two of us. By my best estimation, we will probably gross somewhere between $500.00 and $750.00 over the first year. Also, all startup costs were paid for out of our own pocket. What type of business license would be most appropriate? We're thinking sole proprietorship because it seems the simplest, but from what I understand that won't protect our personal assets in the unlikely event of the business going bankrupt or being sued. I would really appreciate the opinion of those with personal experience with starting their own small business out of their home or someone that has experience from the legal side of it. Thanks.
Why has my mother become 'uncaring' over the past few years? When things were going good for my family, my mother was the most loving person in the world. She was not only my mother, but my friend. Not only did she feed me, shelter me, give me clothing, she also was there as a friend. She took interest in the things I did, gave advice to me, wondered about my future, etc. In other words, she cared about me in ways other than feeding me and giving me a home, she cared about me as a friend. Now, she's different. It's impossible to confide in her. Everytime I've opened up to her, i regretted it. Whether it be minor health issues with my body or skin or severe issues like depression or suicide, there was no reaction or comfort. She always shrugs it off as "it's not a big deal". I would tell her about what I wanted to be when I grew up and assured her that I was confident and could do it with hard work. She never praised me or believed me in. A simple reaction like "Oh" was it. She still loves me in the sense of a mother. She worries about my sleeping habits, what I eat, if I'm cold, etc. She doesn't care anything aside from that. Things that I found very important to me, she disregards them. I used to be EXTREMELY self-motivated before. I felt like with hard work I could get anywhere. Now, I dont feel like that anymore. I feel like nobody believes in me, especially the most important person of my life, my mother... A little background of our family's life which could be the cause of her change. We moved to the USA 7 years ago. My dad left overseas for business matters at the same time we arrived. We haven't seen him since then and we won't see him ever (he passed away recently). This entire time, my mother has had to raise me and my brother alone. She's had trouble finding work and has been stressed for these past 7 years. So in other words, she's struggled hell of a lot in these few years as a single woman. Is this the possible cause of her drastic change? Assuming it is, will she be able to return to her former self if all the stress is thrown off her shoulder?
Being at home makes me depressed? I'm 20 years old. Im a university junior. Before college, I was homeschooled. Then, for college, i got to go to the local university, and I still live with my parents. I live in a VERY SMALL town, its bitterly cold (I HATE BEING COLD, AND IT'S ALWAYS cold here), the cost of living is very high and too high for me to move out at the time (even with a job). I work for the family business. This semester, I didnt have the $$$ for uni tuition, so I decided just to take community college classes online for the semester. So I'm home all.the.time. I have an 11 year old sister and a 13 year old sister. They're here all the time too. My life is no different from when i was 15, just more work and stress, no added benefits. Im losing my mind. Im extremely depressed when I'm at home. I HATE being home. I will do anything NOT TO GO HOME. This week was spring break, and instead of me being allowed to go anywhere, or having anyone to go with, or my family taking a trip, im stuck here. for spring break. again. I say "I want out." My mom says "where?" we never went on vacation when i was a kid, so i dont know where i want to go, just that i dont want to be here. I hate this town. Its so small..every time we go out we run into people we know. I really hate being with people, they make me nervous and feel like im worthless, so i hate running into people i know fromt he past, because then im expected to talk to them. Im really into english riding and horses. I live in an all western community. I cant even buy tack or supplies here in town. Anything i want to see or do...is a minimum of a 2hr drive. I have another year and a half left for my bachelors. I dont know if i can take this. Everyone always asks me if im okay, and the very simple answer is "im the same today that i was yesterday." I have one friend, who basically uses me as her transportation since she doesnt have a car. And my boyfriend is in the military, and out of state, and i really feel let down by him as well and dont like him much any more. I want to cut him loose to. And just crawl away into my room and wait til i die.
21 years old, mom won't let me grow up, I feel trapped in my own life. HELP? I will try to make a VERY complicated situation as simple as possible - in summary: I am a 21 year old female, college student with good grades. Mom and Dad have been divorced since I was 9, but started living together when I was 13 (long story). They aren't a couple, they're just roommates. I have a 29 year old brother, he lives with his gf and his 2 kids from a previous marriage. So thats how my family is arranged. My boyfriend and I have been together for 2 years. He's an amazing guy, and I couldn't ask for more in a man. I love him, he loves me, and together we're great. My mom seems to be the biggest problem in my life. She owns her own business and I have been working with her since I was 16 (possibly younger). I go to school, go straight to work, and then I go home and there she is. We're together pretty much all day. My mother will NOT let me grow up. I am beginning to notice that now that I am 21, I do FAR less fun things than when I was 19, 18, or even 16. She doesn't allow me to visit my boyfriend at his house, I have a 10:30 (MAXIMUM) curfew on weekends. Its RIDICULOUS! The worst part is, I hide the situation from my boyfriend, and he has no idea that my parents have me on "lockdown" the way they do. I mean, he's not stupid- he knows my relationship with my mom is bad because of her attachment issues, but he doesn't know that its because she's so strict. I am not allowed to visit friends houses, and lets say I decide to go out on a Fri night AND Sat night continuously.... I can't. To my mother , two nights in a row is just too much. Her excuse for not letting me go out late is that she "Busts her *** at work all day and it would be inconsiderate of me to keep her up waiting." Ive told her not to wait up for me then, and she looks at me like I'm crazy because she "can't fall asleep until she knows I am home safe." My boyfriend has been more than patient with me thus far. I usually make up some excuse as to why we can't be out late on weekends (ex. I work early Saturday mornings, I don't feel well, I have to study, I have a long day tomorrow, etc). I feel terrible, because after a while, his friends would always ask "Wheres Lianne? Why isn't she here?" and he got tired of going out without me, so now unless I go out, he won't go out and he'll just stay home and text me all night or go to bed early. (NO, he's not lying to me, he actually does this). My mom has gone so far as faking heart attacks (literally, with ambulances called and everything), just because I have disobeyed her. She is really strict on her belief that I should marry as a virgin, and thats why she doesn't allow me to visit his house or anything. Her marriage with my dad was bad - he never physically abused her or anything, but he also never gave her any love or attention. In 21 years, I've never even seen them kiss on the lips. I know she's had bad experiences with men, but she seems to try to make me feel like "All men want one thing." She's trying to make me feel like no one is capable of loving mem, because she herself is lonely. She always talks about how she got married a virgin and never disobeyed her mother. When I ask my grandma, she tells me its true, that my mother has always been obedient. Sad part is, my mom lets my grandma run her life for her too, and I DO NOT want to follow that same, sick pattern. I live in a pretty large house, my mom, dad, and I each have our own rooms.... Well, for a bit over a year now, my mom has been sleeping in MY room with me. If I tell her I need space or for her to sleep in her room, she gets offended and starts to cry, then calls my grandma and tells her I "kicked her out." The WORST part is she tells people that I sleep WITH HER because I'm scared. Its not only a lie, but its also EXTREMELY embarrassing. I don't know what to do anymore, my boyfriend is one of the most important people in my life, and I do not want to lose him. She calls me 99 times when I'm with him, and if I kindly ask her to please not call so much then she starts thinking im "doing something bad" (like sex ::gasp::) . He hates that my phone is always ringing, but I'm afraid that if I don't pick up she'll show up wherever I'm at (or supposed to be at). In order to visit my bf I have to lie to her and tell her I am at the movies, the mall, etc. Its ridiculous, and its becoming too much for me. I am trying to get a job so maybe I can move out, but in my family women moving out alone is sorta looked down upon. I don't know what other options I have. My mom is hovering over me at all times, and if I ask for space she makes a show. I don't want her to hate my bf and I don't want him to hate her either. What do I do? I can't keep living the life of a teenager! I see pictures of my friends online, and they all seem so happy - they're out going to parties, having fun, and being young. It makes me want to cry sometimes because I feel like I am trapped in the life that trapped in the life that I have been living. I know I should be thankful for my life, because people out there have it worse than I do, but sometimes I feel like the fun has been sucked out of my life.
21 years old, Mom won't me grow up, I feel trapped in my life. What can I do? will try to make a VERY complicated situation as simple as possible - in summary: I am a 21 year old female, college student with good grades. Mom and Dad have been divorced since I was 9, but started living together when I was 13 (long story). Their marriaged sucked, he wasn't abusive - but very cold and inaffectionate towards her (Ive never even seen them kiss on the lips)They aren't a couple, they're just roommates. She owns her own business and I have been wprking with her since I was 16 (possibly younger). The worst part is, I lie to my boyfriend about it, and he has no idea that my parents have my on "lockdown" the way they do. I am not allowed to visit friends houses, because she "knows what goes on at people's houses". I feel terrible, because after a while, his friends would always ask "Wheres Gaby? Why isn't she here?" and he got tired of going out without me, so now unless I go out, he won't go out and he'll just stay home and text me all night or go to bed early. Why do people give false information on getting a tattoo license in NY STATE? I have read more then 100 answers that are uninformed on getting a tattoo license in New york STATE! Not just NYC! Example, one so called 9 year vet stated this: "You need a studio to work out of. It's illegal to tattoo out of your home. And both the studio and yourself need to be licensed by the health department in your state. You need to pass a blood borne pathogens course, and be actively employed at a studio that is already licensed in order to legally tattoo, in most states. New Mexico, and New York are two of the unregulated states. There are a couple of others. When a state is unregulated by state law, the local laws, city and county; preside. In New Mexico, only animal tattooing is regulated. Like if you want to tattoo serial numbers on thoroughbred animals for identification purposes. You have to be state licensed to do that. Tattooing illegally on minors is a felony in quite a few states. Not smart. Source(s): I'm a professional tattoo artist, 9 yrs" It is only illegal to tattoo from your home if you are not licensed, and have no certification. With the proper courses passed, and clean, sanitary room, and sterile equipment you can get a license to tattoo from your home. An apprenticeship is a great thing to have, but is NOT a requirement! You do not have to be working in a tattoo shop to apply for a license! Tattooing from your home is more difficult to get a license, but if you run a tight ship it IS possible. You may need a variance from neighbors, meaning they may have to sign a list stating that they have no problem with you having this business in your home, and you may need to prove parking won't be an issue. Most people that run legitimate tattoo shops in their home do appointment only. They don't have every Tom, Dick, or Harry just parking and walking into their home. It peeves me to no end when a scratcher states they have 'X-Amount Of Years' in the business, and state such crap, yet they never state what shop they work in as a source. Really? Gimme a break!!!!! I tattooed from my home for 11 years with certification, shop was called ( HA! Yeah right! You don't state where you work, why should I state where I worked? ). Then life happened and I moved away from the state. Then, life happened again, and I moved back home. Time to start my business again. Reading all the frikin' fluff many people have to say is misleading, to say the least. Some give accurate info, and others just answer to get a ranking. So.......... My question is simple, what gives you the right or knowledge to state who and where you can get a license to tattoo in NYS?
7 Spending Tips From Frugal Billionaires? Carlos Slim Helu (Carlos Slim), a telecom tycoon and billionaire with well-known frugal tendencies, has a net worth of $60.6 billion, according to Forbes. Assuming no changes in his net worth, he could spend $1,150 a minute for the next 100 years before he ran out of money. To put this in perspective, he could spend in 13 minutes what a minimum-wage earner brings home after an entire year of the daily grind. Granted, the world's billionaires (all 1,011 of them) are in the debatably enviable position of having, quite literally, more money than they can possibly spend, yet some are still living well below their means, and save money in surprising places. Even non-billionaires (currently 6,864,605,142 of us) can partake in these seven spending tips from frugal billionaires: 1. Keep Your Home Simple Billionaires can afford to live in the most exclusive mansions imaginable -- and many do, including Bill Gates' sprawling 66,000 square foot, $147.5 million dollar mansion in Medina, Wash. -- yet frugal billionaires like Warren Buffett choose to keep it simple. Buffett still lives in the five-bedroom house in Omaha that he purchased in 1957 for $31,500. Likewise, Carlos Slim has lived in the same house for more than 40 years. 2. Use Self-Powered or Public Transportation Thrifty billionaires including John Caudwell, David Cheriton and Chuck Feeney prefer to walk, bike or use public transportation when getting around town. Certainly these wealthy individuals could afford to take a helicopter to their lunch meetings, or ride in chauffeur-driven Bentleys, but they choose to get a little exercise and take advantage of public transportation instead. Good for the bank account and great for the environment. 3. Buy Your Clothes off the Rack While some people, regardless of their net value, place a huge emphasis on wearing designer clothes and shoes, some frugal billionaires decide it's simply not worth the effort, or expense. You can find David Cheriton, the Stanford professor who matched Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page to the venture capitalists at Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers (resulting in a large reward of Google stock), wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Ingvar Kamprad, the founder of the furniture company Ikea, avoids wearing suits, and John Caudwell, mobile phone mogul, buys his clothes off the rack instead of spending his wealth on designer clothes. 4. Keep your Scissors Sharp The average haircut costs about $45, but people can and do spend up to $800 per cut and style. Multiply that by 8.6 (to account for a cut every six weeks) and it adds up to $7,200 per year, not including tips. These billionaires can certainly afford the most stylish haircuts, buy many cannot be bothered by the time it takes or the high price tag for the posh salons. Billionaires like John Caudwell and David Cheriton opt for cutting their own hair at home. 5. Drive a Regular Car While billionaires like Larry Ellison (co-founder and CEO of Oracle Corporation) enjoy spending millions on cars, boats and planes, others remain low key with their vehicles of choice. Jim Walton (of the Wal-Mart clan) drives a 15-year-old pickup truck. Azim Premji, an Indian business tycoon, reportedly drives a Toyota Corolla. And Ingvar Kamprad of Ikea drives a 10-year-old Volvo. The idea is to buy a dependable car, and drive it into the ground. No need for a different car each day of the week for these frugal billionaires. 6. Skip Luxury Items It may surprise some of us, but the world's wealthiest person, Carlos Slim (the one who could spend more than a thousand dollars a minute and not run out of money for one hundred years) does not own a yacht or a plane. (Reducing the amount you spend is the easiest way to make your money grow.) Many other billionaires have chosen to skip these luxury items. Warren Buffett also avoids these lavish material items, stating, "Most toys are just a pain in the neck." What We Can Learn Some of the world's billionaires have frugal tendencies. Perhaps this thrifty nature even helped them make some of their money. Regardless, they have chosen to avoid some unnecessary spending (at least on their scale) and the 6,864,605,142 non-billionaires out there can follow suit, eliminating excessive, keep-up-with-the-Jones style spending. No matter what a person's income bracket is, most can usually find a way to cut back on frivolous spending, just like a few frugal billionaires.
Anyone willing to invest in a mushroom farming business in Arizona? Thank you for taking the time to read this. My husband and I live in Arizona and we want to start up a gourmet/medicinal mushroom farming business. We have a lot of resources but the one area we lack resources in is financial help. We are trying to see if there is an agricultural grant that we can get to help fund our business. The demand for gourmet mushrooms is much higher than the supply. We are positive that providing fresh gourmet mushrooms such as: Shiitake, Reishi, Lions Mane, Morel, and Oyster, to farmers markets, restaurants, pharmaceutical companies, and already interested buyers locally and eventually all over the United States, will help the farming industry. It will also provide knowledge and understanding to those who do not already know the medicinal benefits and the unlimited gourmet options of mushrooms. Some of the most well known Mycology entrepreneurs such as Jim Bell and president & CEO of the Arizona Mushroom Club, Dr. Chester Leathers, are standing behind us as well as some of the higher ups in departments such as the Arizona Department of Agriculture. We are very serious about this and know it would be a huge success on so many levels. Our goal is to be Arizona’s number one sought out mushroom vendor. Looking at this realistically, we want to exceed our customer’s expectation so we can build good relationships and boost our profits. It would benefit the state of Arizona to have their own mushroom farmers instead of relying on other states such as California for their mushrooms. Most people prefer home grown, fresh, organic products over 5 day old shipped mushrooms. We have thought out our business plan carefully and here are some of the steps we would need to take in order for this to be a success: Getting our FDA registration, GMP certificate, and USDA organic certification will all need to be done. Creating local market opportunities demands negotiation skills and an ability to market, sell, and build long lasting relationships with our customers. My husband and I have had several years experience in customer service, we work well as a collaborating team, and excel in any goals we set out for ourselves. We are driven by our passion to explore options in variety, quality, and medicinal purposes. We would need to find a space that is large enough to house growing rooms and pasteurization rooms in addition to stockrooms and offices. A simple structure built with durable materials that can keep out heat and sunlight. A perfect environment would be to divide the cropping house into compartments for easy operations and movement in the cropping house and also for supply to be continuous. Ventilation systems and a type of air purifier system such as the Hepafilter will be needed. Packaging, auto claves, humidifier, as well as proper refrigeration, are all supplies we would need funding for. Each species of mushrooms have different growing environment needs; therefore, many substrates and additives will be needed such as: manure, hay, bird seed, pine pellets, saw dust, rye grain, and worm castings. Our production system would either be the Ditch system or the tray and shelves system. Mushroom farming is a lucrative enterprise that comprises other components: making spawns, compost bags, cultivating the mushrooms and adding value to cultivated mushrooms already for sale. My husband will be handling the farming and harvesting while I handle all the marketing/advertising aspects of the business. Harvesters will also need to be hired for harvesting and packaging the mushrooms. Eventually we would like to hire someone to help market us and assist with our ideas and help collaborate new ideas that will need to be implemented as our business grows. Making the compost bags ourselves gives an added advantage for continuous production since we wont have to depend on external suppliers and reliability of the bags efficiency is assured since we are entirely in charge of the process. Also, adding value to cultured mushrooms would give us an advantage over our competitors and make consumers want to pay premium prices. The way we plan to do this is by offering our mushrooms in a variety of ways such as: Reishi tea bags (researchers have proven Reishi help fight cancer), different homemade gourmet mushroom recipes (shiitake mushroom alfredo), and pill capsules filled with 100% dried, organic, medicinal mushroom particles that help with several leading illnesses Americans are faced with today. We are asking for an opportunity to put the fourth most demanded vegetable in the United States that has a wide range of proven medicinal benefits, on the shelves of markets, in restaurants, and in pharmaceutical companies all over the United States. According to Mushroom Farms on the World Wide Web, there are no mushroom farmers in the state of Arizona. Let us bring Arizona fresh, organic, medicinal magic! Please contact me if interested.
Anyone else throw a very simple and low key first birthday party? There are several reasons why I want it to be simple and low key: Reason #1: My son will turn one next Thursday and I have been debating what I should do for this first birthday. Most of my family lives here but I don’t have a close relationship with those who have children close to or in his age group. All my first cousins are 10+ years older than me and have adult children. I moved back here seven and a half years ago but still don’t know many people outside of work. The people I do know, with the exception of three (who I know probably won’t show up), don’t have small children. Even if I did go out on a limb and invite the relatives I’m not close to, I am sure they won’t show. Some of my family tends to be very “clickish”, and if you’re not considered an immediate family member then you’re not important (they are also very flaky). There are a few who I know would show up but they tend to be very judgmental, and like to attend events to see what it looked like, how much you spent, who was there, etc. (my aunts). I rarely, if ever, invite them to my home because of this. I made the mistake of having Thanksgiving at my house, and one of my aunt’s made a point to tell me my artificial plant was “full of dust”, and that I needed to get something to hold down the corners of my floor rug. She also kept asking if I had any potato chips and dip, although there were other appetizers available. They come in looking for things to critique and nothing is ever good enough. Reason #2: My husband doesn’t celebrate birthdays or holidays due to religious beliefs, however, I do. I’d be lying if I said it’s not a little disheartening for me, but I knew the circumstances when we got married six and a half years ago (as he did with me), so it’s not a total shock at this point. On the other hand, I am left to deal with the sarcastic remarks, raised brows, and intrusive questions from my family members. This has been an ongoing issue although everyone has known the situation from the beginning. I get the most friction around the holidays, and people ask questions they already know the answers to, but it’s almost like it’s a test to see if I’ve converted to his beliefs and/or just to stir the issue up. They don’t do this to anyone else (female relatives whose children have deadbeat fathers), but they do it to me and it’s almost like they feel their persistence and asking, “Is ___ coming to Thanksgiving dinner?” or “Will ___ be at his birthday party?” is going to make something change. If I have a party and invite certain people this is going to happen. I am almost 100% sure it will. This is going to irritate me, ruin my day, and cause me to add to my list of resentment for these individuals. If I have a small thing, or even just take him to do something on my own, I won’t have to deal with them. Simply trying to derail the conversation or letting them know, in so many words, that it’s not their business hasn’t helped in the past. If I opt to have a solo birthday party I will be stoned. Everyone, as I’m sure they already do, will say I didn’t have one because of my husband. Reason #3: I’d prefer to have larger parties when my son is older and can actually remember and take part in them. There’s really no burning desire in my heart to throw a big party. I have always felt that way. Whether we have a huge party or we just have cake and ice cream with just the two of us isn’t going to make a difference in the way he is cared for or loved my his father and me (who, by the way, is an EXCELLENT father and gives his all with our son). What are your thoughts? What would you do? To those who say, “Oh, my! Your poor son. He isn’t going to have a party. He’s going to be the saddest kid in the world.” Save it. I didn’t have birthday parties on a regular basis when I was coming up and my parents celebrated everything. It’s funny how people act like it’s a crime when you don’t follow what the rest of the world is doing, and completely overlook what’s most important. I guess it bothers me that people are going to judge me if I choose to, or not to, have a party ... and they are going to ask a billion questions about why my husband isn't there (when they already know). Honestly, I would love for him to attend but since I know the situation it would be easier to deal with if it weren't for all the questions and pressure about it.
Help with my 3 year old pug, why does he do his business in my house?!? So I will try to keep this simple! In 2009 I bought a purebred male pug at 8 weeks, he comes home from the breeders trained to do his business on puppy pads, I begin kennel training him. At 6 months he begins going outside to do his business full time. (During this time we have had next to no accidents.) In 2010, he is still kennel trained and he gets neutered. (My boy is a special case, he had to have invasive surgery as only 1 of his testicles descended.) He is still mostly in the kennel, and going to the bathroom outside only. We also find out he has a food allergy and switch him to hypo-allergenic dog food. In 2011, he is no longer using his kennel. He has the run of the main level of my home. No accidents, no damages to anything etc. He is a perfect angel. Later in 2011 my husband and I seperate and the dog lives with me. (During this time he has zero change in behaviour other than a bit of depression which is understandable considering the circumstances.) He continues his normal day to day life. In Fall of 2011 we switched to a new brand of hypo-allergenic dog food. He seems healthy and happy! A daily schedule for my boy and me. 30 minute walk as soon as we get up. I give him his usual amount of food and water. He plays in the huge backyard while I get ready for work. He runs the house from 9 am-noon when I come home for a 1 hour lunch. He goes outside 10 min + during this time. From 1-4 I return to work and he is left at home. I am home by 4:30 where it varies, we will go for another walk weather permitting or he goes outside into our yard. I know pugs are chewers that hate being bored. He has a vast variety of toys, his own bed and blanket in a chair that looks out the window. Just the way he likes. Problem is? For the last few months he has been having accidents off and on in the house!? What am I doing wrong? My ex-husband and I have been seperated nearly a year so I do not think that this could trigger his behaviour. His food was changed in November when he had his check up and shots, he is a healthy full grown pug. The only other thing was my sister brought her dog over a few times. Now yes I thought he could be doing this as a dominance thing, but her dog hasn't been over in 2 months, the rugs have been shampooed, his bed and bedding has been washed several times. What am I doing wrong?? Please help, I love this dog more than anything in the world what do I do!? Should I start back at kennel training?? Thank you Netter and Painted Pony! In answer to your question is pooping mostly but occasional peeing. He was neutered in 2010 so that's certainly not the problem, I will have to go back to kenneling him I guess. It is is dicouraging though!
My 24 year old brother is hurting my mother, how to help? Thank you for reading this. First of all, I am 14 years old and my parents are divorced. My mother is a high paid doctor, but is in very deep debt because of my brother and sister. My brother is 24 right now, and my sister is 22. My brother first started doing drugs with my sister when he was 15, and she was 13. They have been incredibly disrespectful to my mother and have caused much pain in ou family. Everyday of our likes has been devoted treating them off drugs or trying to make them successful and independent. My brother has been to 4 or 5 different boarding schools and has graduated, and my sister to 6 but did not graduate and now has her GED. My mother's love for her son has blinded her. When he was about 21, she put in about 140,000 of her own money ( already being DEEPLY in debt from boarding schools) into a clearly disasterous business that my brother wanted to start in my mother's home country in Europe. She funded everything for him when he lived there, his expensive apartment, the merchandise, everything. He threatened her if she would not pay. When I went to this country in Europe with my mom, it was clear to see that my brother had been doing nothing but partying for the past year. The business was nothing bu a simple room, with not even the walls painted. My mother is in deep debt and trouble in this country now. My brother is also in trouble there with some sort of mafia there. A year later, my brother had ANOTHER business idea. Never working a job in his life, he threatened my mother into giving him thousands of dollars into funding a trip to China to buy merchandise that he was going to use in this business. My brother has done no work with this and threatens my mother every day to give him money. He also is extremely addicted to Aderoll. He still does drugs. He will not leave my mother house. He thinks he is a prodigy on the piano ( he is good, but not great) and plays on the piano probably 8 hours a day. My,others blood pressure is VERY HIGH. and every day he threatens her. In total, i know that my brother owes my mother $200,000. She is near filing for bankruptcy and simply cannot handle my brother, my also troubled sister, my successful sister that attends an IVY league ( goes there mostly on loans), and me. He is under the impression that my mother owes him her life, and that she should give him every penny that she has. He also always threatens her saying, you will see what will happen, and I will never give you a penny. Am scared that this verbal abuse will result in physical abuse and that my mother will have a heart attack. Please help my family, what can I do? Everyone who knows of this situation has talked to my mom. She will not budge. He has been to rehab, hasn't worked. She only wants to help my brother, thinking that the way she is treating him is helping him.
Need help with a good business name for a massage therapy practice!? I'm approaching graduation to become a certified massage therapist and currently i'm designing a mandatory project representing what my own business could (in my case, will) be. To give you a quick background into what I plan to offer: Specializing in oriental bodywork and medicine, I will offer Thai Yoga Massage (northern style), Zen Shiatsu, Reflexology, Reiki, and Restoration Therapy. For now i'm a sole proprietor, so the name has to be for me and me alone. Eventually I may expand into a spa type atmosphere with my own man-made hot springs and Japanese style inn (ryokan), but I could always change the name later right? By the way, that's many years down the road! For now all I will offer is the massage and eventually after more education more about medicinal herbs, etc. Now that's giving you a summary of what I do and might offer at the very least. There is a couple ideas that have inspired me, such as http://www.tenthousandwaves.com japanese style spa in Santa Fe, NM. BEAUTIFUL, and very close to the type of atmosphere i'd offer. Another example is the "Eight Branches" School of Asian Bodywork ( http://www.eightbranches.org/global/pages/Home/index.html ). What i've noticed about these names? They don't have what I call "filler" words like "of" or "the", it isn't boring such as "Jesse's Massage, LMT", but it's simple and uses words that flow easily. "Ten Thousand Waves" makes me think of a rolling ocean, which for some people is therapeutic. "Eight Branches" signifies simplicity about something common in nature, and yet it feels as if it fits, and for some it can signify peace. It doesn't need to be complex, but it should relate to what I offer in some form. I tried fitting "Zen" in the name, but there is already many businesses with that name. And i'm not sure if I should have it as a name in another language, or just english. Hope you've got some good ideas!
Do you think that the gov. should provide $$ means to provide testing of home based products sold? Mobile Tax Preparation Business? My idea is VERY simple; Over the past years i hear many cases where people hated going to H&R Block or some other places to get their taxes because either they had to wait or they had to return home to get more documents. Also, sometimes you are just unable to make it to the office because of the kids....College students often struggle with taxes and are unaware how to maximize their refund legally.. Those other tax services charge upwards of $200+ to have an instant refund (RAL) or can charge 125+ to have a rapid refund (RF) My tax service would charge flat rate $70 for simple returns $80 for simple return + Rapid refund $90 for simple return + Instant Refund **complex returns would be decided on a case by case basis** College Students flat rate of $40 (RF) You can also make appointments for us to come to where you are (whether its at home or on your lunch break)...I am thinking about charging an extra $5 for this service ------- I've been doing my family & friends taxes since I was 16. Instead of attending summer classes; I went and got my tax prep certification from National Tax School (I am thinking about attending H&R Block also just in case I missed something) I already have my EFIN I also have the bank I am going to work through (approved) I know which software I am going to use Basically everything is in order; I just want to know do you think this could work? This will not be my only source of income...I am a college student so after the busy tax season I will still be busy with school...I am just thinking about doing this to make a little extra money... I worked for a tax office last year...and my created my rates because I was able to do a simple return in about 30 minutes... But I do see where I would need to charge more for travel time.
I have been with my girl for over three years and suspected her of cheating, then caught her. What do I do? hears my story. I was married for 4 years and was unhappy. Wrong but had an affair. I learned so much and grew so much from this experience. I went out and ran thru many, many women. Looked at my life and really was committed to settling down. The only girl that I thought of was her. The girl from my affair. I called her and she was in a rocky relationship but on her way out. We dated for a week or so and she moved in. I fell hard for this girl !!! Loved everything about her. We have been together for over 3 years now. This is where it all begins...At times she would be very sady with her cell phone, keeping it by her side. Before she could care less where it was. She began working for an attorny friend of hers and I began seeing different numbers coming to her phone. When asked, they were just friends. Okay, lets all go out. Nothing. She began talking to a particular new friend who was mrried and a cop and was siply a friend. I snapped and after a month she claims to have stopped talking to him. A month or two passes and I approach her again. This time it is someone new and she says dont worry, its none of your business, its a friend. Who she talks to from the time she gets up, til the time she goes to bed. Out of the blue, I am told..."I need some time to reflect, gather my thoughts, and take a little break." BAM in the face wit a bat!!! Had no clue this was coming. She wouldnt tell me why, other than I have changed and am not the same man she fell in love with, but she still loves me. Just needs time. She hasnt worked in two years due to an accident and I have supported us 100%. I had a tax problem so for June and July i was pretty broke. She said we dont go out anymore, yada yada yada. Made me feel like shit after all I have done for her. So, long story short. She is drunk one nite and texts me and then nothing. I call, text nothing. I amm worried sick and go to the spots we chilled at. Nowhere to be found. Stop of one last place which is a hotel, bar, spa. Get down to the hot tub and there she is, butt naked with another man doin therir thing in theh hot tub. Anyone who says I would kill somebody...pause. I was so angry my body froze. She said we were broken up and that she wasnt cheating. We are now seperated but all my furniture and my dog is in the home we shared. I am so pissed and want nothing to do with her BUT I had big plans for this girl. We talked about kids, a house, marriage...I planned a Vegas trip for the end of September and got the 5 CT. ring she asked for. WOW!!! She still acts like my presence bothers her and she still talks to these guys. I AM SO BROKEN and CONFUSED. What do I do? Probably a very simple evident answer but...

What do you do when your mother is a constant snoop in your life? I am about to the end of the rope with my mother. For 26 years she has always been in my business and all it does is causes fights between her and me. I know on one hand she is concerned all she wants to do is give advice, and thats ok, but just because I don't take it doesn't mean that I am rebelling. Enough is enough. The boiling point of it all is that she wants to bring my two children into the mix. She says stuff like I must not have them in my mind by some of the stuff I do, I admit I have made some mistakes in the past, but haven't we all? She has no right to bring them into it, those boys mean the world to me and always will. Lastly, she threatens me that if I don't do this or I do that, that she is going to take them away from me. First of all, you have to have alot of evidence for a judge to prove a mother unfit. Our lives are simple, through the weekday we come home, do homeowork, eat dinner, chill out, take baths and go to bed----what more can she want?
Business idea - no faith from others, should i do it? I'm not sure where i should post this, as it applies to business and relationships. In short i listen to my father a lot and due to my upbringing have limited my opportunities of a good career, so i feel that starting my own business is the only way of making money with a prospect of growth. I'm a 20 year old business student at college almost graduated with sadly, only a pass), this is simple due to working full-time for money and not having a lot of time to spend working on coursework. I listen to my father a lot due to respect and a believe that those older have transferable knowledge and experience. My father is a successful landlord with seven properties making him a man valued at well over a million pounds. Now sadly due to my up bringing (lived with my mother abroad and was home schooled, until fifteen were i finally went to a private school and learn everything in one year. This had a impact on my grade and of course future career prospects. My father simple believes i should work and that higher education is a waste of time. This means core wages for the rest of my life, with promotions and the opportunity of being a manager but that is only, 30,000 a year salary. So i want to be self sufficient, self supportive and start my own business with the opportunity of growth however i am very limited with financial assets (my father believes that i, like him should start up with nothing). For this reason i have looked at opportunities of rapid growth with minimal initial assets and decided that trading on ebay to consumers is a way of rapid growth and found several products of which i can undercut competitors with a 30% net profit margin. Sadly this profit is only a pound and he says it's simple not worth the effort. However my logic is this, with an initial investment of around a £1,000 and selling 300 units a week equals £300 gross which of course gives me a £249 net income per week. This would mean shifting 300 units over several product lines and by offering higher quality products and cheaper prices than the competitors which i have found and after studying demand of the product can easily sell the 300 units needed for a basic minimal supportive income. That's only 60 packages per day with an average time to check invoice, package and send of under four minutes works out to fours per day working five days a week. Surely this isn't such a poor business concept? I need to decide as i can not dedicate my time to a full time job and manage a business therefore i will need to leave the core paid job to pursue this venture. At the very least i gain experience and am doing what i want to do. Just to add, where i work has some incredible poor managers who make more mistakes than should be humanly possible. Having no sense of team work or employment praise, let alone legal obligation. Discrimination happens in the real world, and it becomes more and more apparent that i do more work for lower pay than those around me. I don't get paid for overtime (30 minutes to an hour every shift), made to wait for my payslips as they know i check them and notice that i am often short paid on my shifts. This accounts to around 12 hours of free labour en-yet my old man simple says in the real world people take you for granted and with the current economic situation should just put up with it, as its the real world. His advice being, if i want to leave then find another job first and turning down my business idea is not what i wanted to hear but he usually is right so i need more opinions.
What DO you think about Black Reperation Being added to the Presidential Election.? What do you think about Black Reperation Being added to the Presidential Election . For years my parents struggle to build what we have today , a stable home..& only ! a stable home. My grandfather tell stories about past laws which is now history. But the point to the story is my family generation never had a real chance for success because they were blinded in the past from business & enterpenurship.*making them simple minded and labor workers. But as i look at things now i see Blacks being the beginning of the american dream...What ***(let me explain if i lost you) The american dream, not for blacks but whites leading to what you see today from fortune 500 business + etc... ***a busniess cant function if you do not have consumers..in the past my generation along with many other black generations was the consumer and still is for .*example if you give a kid oatmeal for portion of there life ..then at the age of 18teen there free to what ever. Now the kid is the consumers of.
My rich sister is ignorant of my need for a simple loan for my business. Should I HAVE to ask if we'reSOclose? Lately I can't stand being around her. I think that she must have gotten the impression somehow that maybe I envy her set-up. This is simply not the case. I'm not a materialistic person...then again she would say the same thing about herself. She's not extravigent(sp?), but because she lives in a half million dollar house and has been freakin' comfortable forever that she is absolutely ignorant about where I've been in my life. So be it. The point is, Wallymart put my five year vacuum cleaner business out. I never made enough to save, and many of YOU won't get this, but I lived on $1,000 a month or less. It was a home business. Now though, I want more. I have always been a hard worker and have become very experienced in the past 3 years at carpet cleaning on my own. In fact now it's time I put my efforts to making it my full time gig, but I really need a little capitol to get it going. My sister asks me to do yard work for her. I can't help it, I think she has no respect for me. I did write her off, but she was the one who wanted her yard beautified. I mean, she called me. So, as I worked outside in the blazing sun, she worked inside at her $80 per hour work desk- drawing landscape architecture for folks richer than even herself. Hm'... maybe it's all relative? The thing is, there is something to be said about people who just get it. I've met so many walks of life, it's my observation that money has very little to do with happiness UNLESS it is misused. I never misuse it, but maybe I just don't make enough to save- so shoot me. I'm just tired of only seeing my family when I'm working for them. and THEN hearing of their volunteering for this that and the other. WHY?! Because they have so much freakin' money! Then, at some point they get the bright idea that it was because of their volunteering that they are so blessed. If they are trying to teach me something...well, it's a two way street. Someday they might be living on it. I did once is our difference. U see
If an inexpensive refit was widely available, would you do this in your home or business to conserve water? For all you brilliant DIYers: I imagine there is a way to accomplish this, but I'm an editor not an engineer. Can anyone with related knowledge speak on the subject? Can such a pump even work with a pressurized system? Here is the pump we use on the boat: http://www.whalepumps.com/marine/product... And if it really seemed feasible and I wanted to become an advocate for this widespread change, can anyone suggest how would I start? I currently live in a small town in Alaska.
Can you recommend a laptop for business and home use? I'm in London, budget around £800, I'm not a gamer, just use the net a lot. I'm setting up a baking business so will be using the computer to work from. My current "broadband" speed is 100kbps - my house is not in a great spot - but I want wireless access so I can work in the kitchen (not the freezing cold spare room which we are repainting soon). I haven't used a Mac before but have an Ipod and am open to conversion. Currently have a dell PC which has various issues and is about 3 years old. Need all the MS software, space for photos and music. If I want to edit my own website eventually, do I need any other software? Please give me nice simple answers, I'm not a geek, I just don't know what's reliable and I don't want to waste my money as the company is already draining me! THANKS.

My business partner is threatening to wind the company up can he do this wuithout my consent? I started a business about seven years ago and I and a business colleague put 50% each into starting it. I used to own 50% of the shares. I since had to move to the US with my husband and take a lesser salary and role in the business. However, I still went back to UK for at least 4 to 5 months a year and my role was executable from the US. I took a considerable drop in salary to reflect the location and what I could contribute. This worked perfectly for around two years. In 2005, my partners contacted me and wanted me to transfer 50% of my then shareholding to them and with a lot of pressure and threats from them I relinquished my shareholding since they told me that if I didn't do it they would wind the company up. We negotiated on the phone and the outcome was that I gave them what they wanted but in consideration they had to guarantee my salary/retainer for 5 years. In addition my business partner no longer wished for me to play and active role in the business and basically said that I should be on hand on an as need to basis. Given the situation I took a back seat in the business as requested. The transfer of shares occurred in October 2005 and for a few years we performed that contract, I performed duties on an as need to basis, executed strategy decisions with them, etc. I however no longer had a specific role. Last year in June 2008, informs me that he is going to make me redundant I of course say why you would do that since you have guaranteed me a retainer for five years and the terms of that are not up. He says that he has no intention of paying that and that he would only give me statutory redundancy. Therefore we couldn't agree on this and we have fallen out. He continually threatens to wind the company up. I still own 25% of this company and am concerned that not only has he screwed me of the original contract but he is also going to cheat me out of the remaining 25%. The facts are that they have got greedy and want me out. In the process they will use every vehicle in their possession including lies to steal the business from me. THIS BUSINESS WOULD NOT EXIST IF IT WEREN"T FOR ME IT WAS MY IDEA. The problem is that the costs of taking them to court to stop them doing this are prohibitive. The business has a few hundred customers and a turnover of over a million. The company is making a loss but improving and has grown substantially. The company has never been allowed to make a profit and the current partners charge it an extortionate management charge of 400K a year. The company would show a profit, but then they would have to pay tax and pay dividends which they obviously do not wish to do. The company that we set up has since been incorporated to a group structure and merged with their other business. I know that my share of this business is worth something and I really wish to protect it. However Legal costs are prohibitive and I really need someone to represent me on a no win no fee basis so that we can also get legal expense insurance to fight this. We do have a shareholders agreement, but everything comes down to my needing expensive lawyers - surely there has to be a way of protecting my interest. What is the point of contracts if they cannot be enforced just because you do not have the funds to fight a legal battle. It is really frustrating that those with deeper pockets always win despite them being in the wrong. I am willing to sell my share of the business to them, but they have declined my extremely fair price in preference to just finding a way of taking my share for nothing. I need to do something to stop them? In short; They own 75% and I own 25% of the business. We have not reached a deadlock in terms of how the business should be run, it's a simple matter of my partner wishing to get rid of me for nothing. I also wish for the management charges to be revised since these costs are pretty much costs that already existed in the parent company and are fixed. The premises are owned by my partners pension fund and very few people that work for my side of the business are actually in this office. The employees mostly work from home and it could easily be run from cheaper serviced offices. Any advice? Please? Any Lawyers out there willing to take my case on a no win no fee basis?

Simple Probability Help Question? 1.In older cities across North America, infrastructure is deteriorating. One of the areas is water lines that supply homes and businesses. In a report to the Toronto City Council, it was reported that there are on average 15 water line breaks per 50 kilometres per year in the city of Toronto. ii.Compute the probability that there will be exactly 12 water line breaks in any 50 kilometer stretch in Toronto.

I have a great business idea, butI don't have the capital? Hi, I am a student here in the Philippines. I have only been here for 5 months after deciding to come back home from the UK, where I stayed for 16 years. Anyway, I am studying at USLS Bacolod right now and I would like to set up a business there. Problem is that I don't have enough capital, a simple solution if I have been here for a few years, ok I can lend from the bank, but since I've just come back here, I can't just go to the bank and ask them, I have no collateral which I could use. However, I have this great idea that if put up could help me pay off any loan or investment I get because its really a one of a kind idea, nothing like it before has ever come to our city. The problem I have is finding someone who can help me financially by lending me some money. Now I don't need a lot, I need about 50k in Philippine Peso, but I know that if given the chance, I know that I could make this work. I am studying business too, but I have found someone who could watch it for me. I just need the capital. Apply on Dragons Den? I'm not in the UK anymore. No I ain't scamming, I'm just posting this because I'm seeking advice on what to do. If I was scamming, I wouldn't put this up in the first place.
To Everybody Who Has Microwave And Oven? Microwave / Oven Burned Food: When I bake food like croissants or biscuits, I put them in the middle of the oven. The top of the food gets black, the bottom is not finished. When I remove the food too early, it is not finished. When I remove it later, the food is burned. I tried to put the food lower, but the same problem happened. The bottom burned and the top was not finished. The oven does not bake correctly. Beeping: The microwave beeps 4 times when food is finished. If you don’t open the door immediately, beeping continues. I could only lower the sound but I can not turn it off. It is extremely irritating and annoying. Injury Danger: When I cleaned the oven, I cut my fingers because of sharp pieces. There was no warning in the user manual about injury danger. Loose Handles: The handles of the microwave and oven are loose. You can not just use a screw driver to tighten them. You have to disassemble the door. Steam: When I bake, the glass gets steamed. The problem is that I can not wipe of the steam because the steam is inside the glass. Light Bulb: After only a year and a half the light bulb for the microwave burned out too early. Since I knew that to replace a light bulb all I had to do was unscrew the bulb and replace it, I thought that this would be a very simple procedure. But I was wrong! To replace the simple light bulb I would have to call Whirlpool Customer Service to have the light bulb replaced. It sounds like unfair business practices or fraud. The light bulb and filter problem are not normal and it was not clear. Filter: The filter is dirty. I can not change it. There is fire danger because of fat and there is no warning in the user manual. It is unhealthy to cook food with an old filter. There was no information about the light bulb and filter in the user manual. I have a 5 year warranty on all built in home appliances. I wrote Whirlpool an e-mail. Do you have same or similar problems?
I want to open up a small business I need ideas? Im graduating (touch wood) uni this year and I dont have any plans afterward, my rents live abroad so I was thinking about opening some kind of small business that will pay my rent here in the UK, and fund the occasional weekend out. What would be an ideal way to start? I was thinking of an e-Business preferably that I could run from home, doesnt involve alot of overheads, and is relatively simple and in demand. I dont have a budget in mind but lets say 1000 pounds to start it off would that be enough? Any suggestions or experiences would be helpful. Cheers. Well I have a few ideas but as with any good ideas they are usually taken. Had a few ideas about possibly bringing in USB memory sticks from china, I found they have 250GB USB sticks over there while were still lugging around with external hard drives. Dont steal my idea though or I will track you down haha!
1st Home development / Buy-to-let questions (UK only)? After many years of thinking about it I have finally dived into the Buy-to-let / redevelopment market and purchased my first house. What I really need to know is this:- 1) Better to register as a business or keep it simple meantime? 2) I have Paid "x" amount for the property and intend to spend "y" on it getting it to a upgraded state. Assuming I have a profit at the end of it. What does the taxman get on both options of Business or personal. 3) If I let it out and I get slightly more in rent v's mortgage payment say £100 a month more.......what does the taxman get or what am I liable for 4) Any advice greatly received Many thanks Fengirl2, Your point 3 on ofsetting morgage payments etc for tax. Are you suggesting this from personal investment perspective rather than being a Ltd co?
Feeling unappreciated, am I being too sensitive? Have been married for 4 years, and we both work full time. But I do all the cooking, most of the cleaning, all the yarkwork and am remodeling the house at the same time. I also take care of the kids most of the time, who are hers from another marriage, but I treat them as mine. I have been trying to support her in a home business that has been losing money for the last 2 years, but I am always exhausted, and have no time to myself. At one time I was a photographer and artist and now have no time for either. And when I ask for a simple back massage I get about 2 minutes. Im feeling greatly unappreciated for all that I give. Am I asking too much?
Anyone intrested in writing a two page summary of this? FIBER KEEPS ITS PROMISE BY GEORGE GILDER "Today, I await the death of television, telephony, VCRs, and analog cameras with utter confidence as Moore's law unfolds." Rupert Murdoch, Ted Turner, John Malone, are you listening?" Get ready. Bandwidth will triple each year for the next 25, creating trillions in new wealth. Editor's note: Four years ago, Forbes ASAP published its first issue with a stunning prophecy by contributing editor George Gilder. Fiber optics, said George, had the potential to carry 25 trillion bits per second down a single strand. This represented a ten-thousandfold leap in carrying capacity over the 2.5 billion bits "barrier" long assumed by most experts in the field. What did George see that others had missed? One, a little-recognized (at the time) breakthrough called an erbium-doped amplifier, which keeps optical signals pure and strong over long distances. The other was a deep technical shift, with roots in the 1940s-era work of information theory pioneer Claude Shannon. If you believed Shannon, his logic dictated a new messaging scheme called wave division multiplexing. Though scorned by the experts four years ago, WDM now is emerging as the winner George had prophesied. The real winners will be all of us, as the coming world of cheap, unlimited bandwidth unfolds and at last fulfills the true potential of the information age. Here is George with an update. IMAGINE THAT IN 1975 YOU KNEW that Moore's law--the Intel chairman's projection of the doubling of the number of transistors on a microchip every 18 months--would hold for the rest of your lifetime. What if you knew that these transistors would run cooler, faster, better, and cheaper as they got smaller and were crammed more closely together? Suppose you knew the law of the microcosm: that the cost-effectiveness of any number of "n" transistors on a single silicon sliver would rise by the square of the increase in "n." As an investor knowing this Moore's law trajectory, you would have been able to predict and exploit a long series of developments: the emergence of the PC; its dominance over all other computer form factors; the success of companies making chips, disk drives, peripherals, and software for this machine. With a slight effort of intellect, you could have extended the insight and prophesied the digitization of watches, records (CDs), cellular phones, cameras, TVs, broadcast satellites, and other devices that can use miniaturized computer power. If you did not know precisely when each of these benisons would flourish, you would have known that each one was essentially inevitable. To calculate approximate dates, you had only to guess the product's optimal price of popularization and then match its need for mips (millions of instructions per second) of computer power with the cost of those mips as defined by Moore's law. Merely by using this technique of Moore's law matching--and holding to it with unshakable conviction for nearly 20 years--I became known as a "futurist." Today I await the death of television, telephony, VCRs, and analog cameras with utter confidence as Moore's law unfolds. You can tell me about the 98% penetration of TVs in American homes, the continuing popularity of couch-potato entertainments, the effectiveness of broadcast advertising, and the profound and unbridgeable chasm between the office appliance and the living-room tube. But I will pay no attention. Just you wait--Jack Welch, Ted Turner, Rupert Murdoch, John Malone, and David Jennings--the TV will die and you may be too late for the Net. It is now 1997, and a stream of dramatic events certifies that another law, as powerful and fateful and inexorable as Moore's, is gaining a similar sway over the future of technology. It is what I have termed the law of the telecosm. Its physical base lies in the same quantum realm of eigenstates and band gaps that governs the performance of transistors and also makes photons leap and lase. But the telecosm reaches beyond components to systems, combining the science of the electromagnetic spectrum with Claude Shannon's information theory. In essence, as frequencies rise and wavelengths drop, digital performance improves exponentially. Bandwidth rises, power usage sinks, antenna size shrinks, interference collapses, error rates plummet. The law of the telecosm ordains that the total bandwidth of communications systems will triple every year for the next 25 years. As communicators move up-spectrum, they can use bandwidth as a substitute for power, memory, and switching. This results in far cheaper and more efficient systems. In 1996, the new fiber paradigm emerged in full force. Parallel communications in all-optical networks became the dominant source of new bandwidth in telecom. Like Moore's law, the law of the telecosm will reshape the entire world of information technology. It defines the direction of technological advance, the vectors of growth, the sweet spots for finance. AMERICA'S DARK SECRET FOR MORE THAN A DECADE, American companies have been laying optical fiber strands at a pace of some 4,000 miles a day, for a total of more than 25 million strand miles. Five years ago, the top 10% of U.S. homes and businesses were, on average, a thousand households away from a fiber node; now they are a hundred households away. However, the imperial advance of this technology conceals a dark secret, which has led to a pervasive underestimation of the long-term impact of photonics. Sixty percent of the fiber remains "dark" (unused for communications) and even the leading-edge "lit" fiber is being used at less than one ten-thousandth of its intrinsic capacity. This problem has prompted leaders in the industry, from Bill Gates and Andy Grove to Bob Metcalfe and Mitch Kapor, to underrate drastically the impact of fiber optics. Restricting the speed and cost-effectiveness of fiber has been an electronic bottleneck and a regulatory noose. In order for the signal to be amplified, regenerated, or switched, the light pulses had to be transformed into electronic pulses by optoelectronic converters. For all the talk of the speed of light, fiber-optic systems therefore could pass bits no faster than the switching speed of transistors, which tops out at a cycle time of between 2.5 and 10 gigahertz. Meanwhile, telecom companies could not deploy new low-cost fiber products any faster than the switching speed of politicians and regulators, which tops out roughly at a cycle time of between 2.5 years and a rate of evolution measurable only by means of carbon 14. Nonetheless, the intrinsic capacity of every fiber line is not 2.5 gigahertz. Nor is it even 25 gigahertz, which is roughly the capacity of all the frequencies commonly used in the air, from AM radio to kA band satellite. The intrinsic capacity of every fiber thread, as thin as a human hair, is at the least one thousand times the capacity of what we call the "air." One thread could carry all the calls in America on the peak moment of Mother's Day. One fiber thread could carry 25 times more bits than last year's average traffic load of all the world's communications networks put together: an estimated terabit (trillion bits) a second. Over the last five years, technological breakthroughs and legislative loopholes have begun to open up this immense capacity to possible use. Following concepts pioneered and patented by David Payne at the University of Southampton in England, a Bell Laboratories group led by Emmanuel Desurvire and Randy Giles developed a workable all-optical device. They showed that a short stretch of fiber doped with erbium, a rare earth mineral, and excited by a cheap laser diode can function as a powerful amplifier over fully 4,500 gigahertz of the 25,000 gigahertz span. Introduced by Pirelli of Italy and popularized by Ciena Corporation of Savage, Maryland, and by Lucent and Alcatel, today such photonic amplifiers are a practical reality. Put in packages between two and three cubic inches in size, the erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs) fit anywhere in an optical network for enhancing signals without electronics. This invention overcame the most fundamental disadvantage of optical networks compared to electronic networks. You can tap into an electronic network as often as desired without eroding the voltage signal. Although resistance and capacitance will leach away the current, there are no splitting losses in a voltage divider. Photonic signals, by contrast, suffer splitting losses every time they are tapped; they lose photons until eventually there are none left. The cheap and compact all-optical amplifier solves this problem. It is an invention comparable in importance to the integrated circuit. Just as the integrated circuit made it possible to put an entire computer system on a single sliver of silicon, the all-optical amplifier makes it possible to put an entire system on a seamless seine of silica--glass. Unleashing the law of the telecosm, it makes possible a new global economy of bandwidth abundance. Five years ago when I first celebrated the radical implications of erbium-doped amplifiers, skepticism reigned. I was summoned to Bellcore, where the first optical networks had been built and then abandoned, to learn the acute limits of the technology from Charles Brackett and his team. I had offered the vision of a broadband fibersphere--a worldwide web of glass and light--where computer users could tune into favored frequencies as readily as radios tune into frequencies in the atmosphere today. But Brackett and other Bellcore experts told me that my basic assumption was false. It was no simpler, they said, to tune into one of scores of frequencies on a fiber than to select time slots in a time-division-multiplexed (TDM) bitstream. Indeed, electronic switching technology was moving faster than optical technology. In the face of the momentum and installed base of electronic switching and multiplexing, the fibersphere with hundreds of tunable frequencies would remain a fantasy, like Ted Nelson's Xanadu. In 1997 the fantasy is coming true around the world. Xanadu has become the World Wide Web. The erbium-doped fiber amplifier is an explosively growing $250 million business. Electronic TDM seems to have topped out at 2.5 gigabits a second. TDM gear has suffered a series of delays and nagging defects and so far has failed in the market. Electronic TDM failed not only because it pushed the envelope of electronics but also because it violated the new paradigm. In single-mode fiber, the two key impediments are nonlinearities in the glass and chromatic dispersion (the blurring of bit pulses because even in a single band different frequencies move at different speeds). Chromatic dispersion increases by the square of the bit rate, and the impact of nonlinearities rises with the power of the signal. High-powered, high-bit-rate TDM flunked both telecosm tests. By contrast, wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) follows the laws of the telecosm; it succeeds by wasting bandwidth and stinting on power. WDM takes some 33% more bandwidth per bit than TDM, but it reduces power to combat nonlinearity and divides the bitstream into multiple frequencies in order to combat dispersion. Thus it can extend the distance or increase capacity by a factor of four or more today and can lay the foundations for the fibersphere tomorrow. In 1996 the new fiber paradigm emerged in full force. Parallel communications in all-optical networks, long depicted as a broadband pipe dream, crushed all competitors and became the dominant source of new bandwidth in the world telecom network. The year began with a trifold explosion at the Conference on Optical Fiber Communication in San Jose when three companies--Lucent Technologies' Bell Labs, NTT Labs, and Fujitsu--all announced terabit-per-second WDM transmissions down a single fiber. Sprint confirmed the significance of the laboratory breakthroughs by announcing deployment of Ciena's MultiWave 1600 WDM system, so called because it can increase the capacity of a single fiber thread by 1,600%. The revolution continues in 1997. At the beginning of January, NEC declared that by increasing the number of bits per hertz from one to three, it had raised the laboratory WDM record to three terabits per second. During 1996, MCI had increased the speed of its Internet backbone by a factor of 25, from 45 megabits a second to 1.2 gigabits. On January 6, Fred Briggs, chief engineering officer at MCI, announced that his company is in the process of installing new WDM equipment from Hitachi and Pirelli that increases the speed of its phone network backbone to 40 gigabits per second. Accelerating MCI's previous plans by some two years, the new system will use a more limited form of wavelength-division multiplexing to put four 10-gigabit in-cause formation streams on a single fiber thread. The first deployment will use existing facilities on a 275-mile route between Chicago and St. Louis, but the technology will be extended to the entire network. This move will consummate a nearly thousandfold upgrade of the MCI backbone, from 45 megabits per second to 40 gigabits, within some 36 months. Ciena, meanwhile, has announced technology that allows transmission of 100 gigabits per second. Its February IPO was the most important since Netscape (market cap at the end of the first trading day: $3.4 billion). Why? Ciena is the industry leader in open standard WDM gear. During the first six months the MultiWave 1600 was available, through October 1996, the firm achieved $54.8 million in sales and $15 million in net income. (Lucent is believed to be the overall leader with more than $100 million of mostly proprietary AT&T systems.) At the same time, the trans-Pacific consortium announced that it would deploy 100-gigabit-per-second fiber in its new link between the United States and Asia. A powerful new player in these markets will be Tellabs, currently the fastest-growing supplier of electronic digital cross-connect switches and other optical switching gear. In a further coup, following its purchase of broadband digital radio pioneer Steinbrecher, Tellabs has signed up all 12 principals in IBM's all-optical team. Headed by Paul Green, recent chairman of the IEEE Communications Society and author of the leading text on fiber networks, and by Rajiv Ramaswami, coauthor of a new 1997 text on the subject, the IBM group built the world's first fully functioning all-optical networks (AONs), the Rainbow series. Tellabs now owns the 11 AON patents and 100 listed technology disclosures of the group. The implications of the WDM paradigm go beyond simple data pipes. The greatest impact of all-optical technology will likely come in consumer markets. A portent is Artel Video Systems of Marlborough, Massachusetts, which recently introduced a fiber-based WDM system that can transmit 48 digital video channels, 288 CD-quality audio bitstreams, and 64 data channels on one fiber line. Aggregating contributions from a variety of content sources--each on different fiber wavelengths--and delivering them to consumers who tune into favored frequencies on conventional cable, the Artel system represents a key step into the fibersphere. It can be used for new services by either cable TV companies or telcos. The deeper significance of the Artel product, however, is its use of bandwidth as a replacement for transistors and switches. The Artel system works on dark fiber without compression. The video uses 200-megabit-per-second bitstreams (compare MPEG2 at 4 to 6 megabytes per second) that permit lossless transmissions suitable for medical imaging, and obviate dedicated processing of compression codes at the two ends. A move to massively parallel communications analogous to the move to parallel computers, all-optical networks promise nearly boundless bandwidth in fiber. According to Ewart Lowe of British Telecom, whose labs at Martlesham Heath in Ipswich have been a fount of all-optical technology, the new paradigm will reduce the cost of transport by a factor of 10. For example, the optoelectronic amplifiers previously used in fiber networks entailed nine power-hungry bipolar microchips for each wavelength, rather than a simple loop of doped silica that covers scores of wavelengths. As these systems move down through the network hierarchy, the growth of network bandwidth and cost-effectiveness will not only outpace Moore's law, it will also excel the rise in bandwidth within computers--their internal "buses" connecting their microprocessors to memory and input-output. While MCI and Sprint move to deploy technology that functions at 40 gigabits a second, current computers and workstations command buses that run at a rate of close to 1 gigabit a second. This change in the relationship between the bandwidth of networks and the bandwidth of computers will transform the architecture of information technology. As Robert Lucky of Bellcore puts it, "Perhaps we should transmit signals thousands of miles to avoid even the simplest processing function." Lucky implies that the law of the telecosm eclipses the law of the microcosm. Actually, the law of the microcosm makes distributed computers (smart terminals) more efficient regardless of the cost of linking them together. The law of the telecosm makes broadband networks more efficient regardless of how numerous and smart are the terminals. Working together, however, these two laws of wires and switches impel ever more widely distributed information systems, with processing and memory in the optimal locations. WHAT SHOULD THE MAJOR PLAYERS DO NOW? FOR THE TELEPHONE COMPANIES, the age of ever smarter terminals mandates the emergence of ever dumber networks. Telephone companies may complain of the large costs of the transformation of their system, but they command capital budgets as large as the total revenues of the cable industry. Telcos may recoil in horror at the idea of dark fiber, but they command webs of the stuff 10 times larger than any other industry. Dumb and dark networks may not fit the phone company self-image or advertising posture. But they promise larger markets than the current phone company plan to choke off their own future in the labyrinthine nets of an "intelligent switching fabric" always behind schedule and full of software bugs. Telephone switches (now 80% software) are already too complex to keep pace with the efflorescence of the Internet. While computers become ever more lean and mean, turning to reduced instruction-set processors and Java stations, networks need to adopt reduced instruction-set architectures. The ultimate in dumb and dark is the fibersphere now incubating in their magnificent laboratories. The entrepreneurial folk in the computer industry may view this wrenching phone company adjustment with some satisfaction. But computer firms must also adjust. Now addicted to the use of transistors to solve the problems of limited bandwidth, the computer industry must use transistors to exploit the nearly unlimited bandwidth. When home-based machines are optimized for manipulating high-resolution digital video at high speeds, they will necessarily command what are now called supercomputer powers. This will mean that the dominant computer technology will first emerge not in the office market but in the consumer market. The major challenge for the computer industry is to change its focus from a few hundred million offices already full of computer technology to a billion living rooms now nearly devoid of it. Cable companies possess the advantage of already owning dumb networks based on the essentials of the all-optical model of broadcast and select--of customers seeking wavelengths or frequencies rather than switching circuits. Cable companies already provide all the programs to all the terminals and allow them to tune in to the desired messages. But the cable industry cannot become a full-service supplier of telecommunications unless the regulators give up their ridiculous two-wire dream in which everyone competes with cable and no one makes any money. Cash-poor and bandwidth-rich, cable companies need to collaborate with telcos--which are cash-rich and bandwidth-poor--in a joint effort to create broadband systems in their own regions. In all eras, companies tend to prevail by maximizing the use of the cheapest resources. In the age of the fibersphere, they will use the huge intrinsic bandwidth of fiber, all 25,000 gigahertz or more, to simplify everything else. This means replacing nearly all the hundreds of billions of dollars' worth of switches, bridges, routers, converters, codecs, compressors, error correctors, and other devices, together with the trillions of lines of software code, that pervade the intelligent switching fabric of both telephone and computer networks. The makers of all this equipment will resist mightily. But there is no chance that the old regime can prevail by fighting cheap and simple optics with costly and complex electronics and software. The all-optical network will triumph for the same reason that the integrated circuit triumphed: It is incomparably cheaper than the competition. Today, measured by the admittedly rough metric of mips per dollar, a personal computer is more than 2,000 times more cost-effective than a mainframe. Within 10 years, the all-optical network will be thousands of times more cost-effective than electronic networks. Just as the electron rules in computers, the photon will rule the waves of communication. I know people would not write it..But worth a try:)
PLEASE READ...Very Important!! What do you have to loose? I would appreciate all comments and answers? Am I not very smart or does this sound like a great idea!? I am a 19 year college student. I have sold things on E bay and signed up for a varies home based business that I have of course failed at. I ran across this website that made a lot of since. I f you were to pay a company $20 each month. Of the $20, $12 will go to the person who you signed up under and $6 will go to the person who they signed up under. The other $4 will go to the company. When you really think about it, isn't this one of the simplest ways to make money? Anyone could open up a business like this. Lets say the company has 400 people. That 400 x $4 is $1600 into the company each month and all the employers are still getting paid. How much you get paid depends on how hard you work. The only problem with this would be getting people to sign up. Please I would appreciate as many comments and answers as possible.
Where is the best place to get a small home loan with very bad credit in Kansas/Missouri ? My family and I fell on hard times when my husband was diagnosed with a un removable brain tumor (though not cancer) and lost his job in 2003. Technically he is unable to work due to problems associated with the tumor, but disability says that he's not so bad off he can't work. He's tried to find many jobs and even applied to places like burger king, walmart and mcdonalds and was unable to be hired. I worked two jobs but couldn't pay the $1000 mortgage and so we sold the house we had for less than it was worth to a company who kept it from being in foreclosure and on our credit. Still we were paying off credit card bills through Credit consolidation and I couldn't pay them anymore. We have around $10k in cc debt following us around at the moment. A run down trailer was given to us and we have been here for the past three years but it is falling apart and we can't stay here due to sanitary issues. I have two small little girls and they are begging to stay with grandparents to get out of this place. Simple fact is we must move! My husband and I have started our own businesses and make enough to pay a small mortgage fee so we are looking for a house in KS or MO for around 40,000.00 or less that needs some fixing up. I don't know of a place that will help us with our credit as horrible as it is. Any suggestions for places to help us get a small home loan on horrible credit is more than appreciated.
What do you think about this forward letter, Thaksin? Dear friend, You want to know why Khunying Photdjaman went to see Pa Prem, and what they talked about? Khunying had a message to be passed on the King of Thailand through Pa Prem. The bargain of Thaksin is: •As for the hidden shares, he will return ten billions to Thailand and pay penalty. In return, no jail sentence. •As for other small technical mistakes he will pay compensation to the State, five billion baht. •As for causing disunity and division among the Thai people, he is very sorry. He was well meant. He will create a Foundation for Peace and Unity in Thailand with five billion baht. •As for having created heavy concern to the King Himself, he is extremely sorry, promise to wear the yellow shirt all his life, and ask for Royal Pardon. Besides, he will contribute to Royal Projects ten billion baht. •As for the Thai Rak Thai, he will dissolve it into thin air. He and his former associates will not have any role or activity in politics for five years. •He loves Thailand and the Thai people. He is home sick. He wants to live in peace, play golf, go shopping from time to time to Paragon and eat khuitiaw in a normal restaurant. He will do normal business, pay takes by the new rules, and visit monks. (Since his wealth has greatly diminished he will not be able to make much merit in thambuns for a few years). •Briefly: he pays, he gets Royal Pardon, and no jail for him. He promises to be a good boy from now on. That was the message of Mr. Thaksin to Pa Prem for the King. Khunying Photdjaman only said she khit thing Thailand very much, was not pleased with Harrods, and did not like English tea. Therefore she hoped to be back soon in Thailand with 100 pieces of luggage and another 100 of small shopping gifts for the new government members, to show their gratitude. This simple request took only fifteen minutes. Pa Prem did not say anything, only that he would pass the message to the King. End of the visit.
Which dog breed attacks? MY QUESTION: WHY? Tony A- I agree, PETA sucks! Don't worry so much tho, if we can agree that all dogs are equally able to attack, and the anti-dog crew starts crying about banning breeds of dogs favored by the wealthy and powerful, then BSL will come to a screeching halt. Like the Salem Witch Trials. They went on and on with lies, accusation, and murder until finally a relative of the governor was accused, and BOOM, no more witch trials! Thanx for yr input!
muslims How to Make America an Islamic Nation ? Congress just passed a bill declaring the consumption of alcohol a felony, punishable by up to 120 days in jail. Although critics said the new law wouldn't work anymore than Prohibition did in the 1920's, supporters of the measure felt confident that it would hold, given the large support from the Muslim America community. Even now, many Islamic organizations are setting up alcohol treatment centers and prevention programs designed to help people kick the dangerous habit. The president, a staunch supporter of moral values, is expected to sign the new bill into law when reaches his desk. Sound like fiction? It may be fiction now, but the future is like a book of blank, white pages; anything can happen. When I accepted Islam and surrendered my heart to Allah's will, I didn't do it for economic or social reasons. In fact, I suffered in those two areas because of my conversion. Rather, it was a choice on my part to reform my soul, my mind and my understanding of why I was alive and why I would die one day. I didn't think about living in some town for a few years and making my fortune so my kids could go to Ivy league schools. I wasn't thinking about how to get all my relative a green card nor was I planning to leave and go back home to some far land after my bank account was full enough. I was born and raised here. This is my land. I'll raise my children here, Insha'allah and probably be buried here as well. I knew that by accepting Islam I was declaring that America needed to do so too. America, my home, would naturally become an Islamic country one day. There is no other way to think if you are a truly conscientious believer in Allah. In past columns, I have raised complaints or alarm bells at the state of some segment of the Muslim community. Now I'm going to offer three suggestions for how we can turn the situation around and become the dominant social and cultural force in a country that needs Islam more than another pop-star, beer-brand or psychic network. First, we must be reminded of a simple truth: if you believe in Allah, then you must be more than just a praying Muslim; more than just a fasting Muslim. A Christian can go to the masjid and pray side-by-side with us all he wants; a Jew can fast in Ramadan for forty years, but if such a person doesn't surrender their will to Allah, then all those activities won't mean much. Belief in Allah is what makes those actions have merit on Judgment Day. In the same way, why should we see a praying and fasting Muslim and automatically assume he or she is a true believer? The blessed Prophet once observed that many are the people who fast but who get nothing from it but hunger and thirst. In a similar vein, Allah said that people who pray for show are those who deny the deen. The intention, the belief, that's what makes our Islam real. That's what builds a foundation for the future of our community here. Secondly, what's more important than what people see us doing in the masjid, is what they see us doing outside in the society. If people view us as foreigners, it's not because everybody is an evil racist. It's because sometimes we're presenting ourselves that way. We have to look at ourselves with a critical eye! As a quick note, lest multitudes write and complain: The vast majority of Muslims here have chosen to live in non-Muslim neighborhoods; have chosen to live far from the masjid, have chosen to turn their children into neo-kuffar by letting them be indoctrinated by the public school system and have chosen to have non-Muslims as the primary people they come into contact with. If you choose not to actively practice Islam in your daily life, if you choose not to build and Islamic community, then don't display yourself as an ethnic model and say this is what a Muslim should be. This leads me to the third factor which will help our faith prosper and grow here. The essential, unifying force we must have is a solid, homogenous community. We must live together. All those people who cry about ghettoizing ourselves need to wake up. Why do the Orthodox Jews live together? Why do the Amish live together? Why do the Mormons, the Sikhs, the survivalists and the Koreans live together? Quite simply, to preserve the unique way of life from the scrourge of assimilation. Are they ghettoized? No. Are they poor? No. Their communities tend to be healthier, safer and more prosperous than the general melting pot. How many Muslims have been lost to Islam in the last fifty years here? Tens of thousands have been lost. The only reason Islam is still growing here, by large, is because of a steady stream of immigration. But when that dries up, the assimilation will dwindle our community down to nothing. It's like we have a bucket with a hole in the bottom. We keep pouring new immigrants in, but so many are leaking out are lost forever. (And we're hardly making concerted or intelligent efforts at bringing others to the faith.) I used to have contact with a unique community in the heart of Detroit, Michigan. It was originally settled by Yemeni immigrants about ten years ago. Those Muslims could have gone the way of others and lost their Iman. But as you'll see, something quite different occurred. I still remember my first visit to the area fondly. I was attending a meeting of the newly-formed local ICNA group and had never been exposed to the place before. What I saw amazed me. I was elated, in fact! Children were saying salaams to me on the street and women (in hijab) were walking around and going places leisurely and confidently. I saw Muslims who were Arab, Black and Bengali. But what took the cake for me was when out of nowhere I heard the adhan outdoors over a loudspeaker. They fought the city council and won the right to do adhan five times a day in the community! Something clicked in the minds of these people. The Yemenis formed a master plan and determined to stay together. They set up a fund and slowly bought one house after another, moving Muslim families in and drug-infested kafirs out, until they literally had thousands of Muslims businesses and stores in the heart of the community and bought a huge Catholic church and made it into a beautiful masjid. They even made a small community health care center! When we were leaving our meeting and walking to the masjid for salat, it was the most beautiful sight: from all directions, men, women and children, of all races, were going to their masjid as a community. I've never been to Muslim country before, but I'll tell you this much, I felt as if I were in an Islamic country. And this wasn't Egypt or India or Turkey. It was right here - in America.
How many find this discovery as a cheap way to make fuel for vehicles? Do you think this will be taken farther and actually find a way to use this for the replacement of gasoline? Water burns! Man looking for cancer cure hopes to solve energy crisis -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted: May 30, 2007 5:00 p.m. Eastern By Joe Kovacs © 2007 WorldNetDaily.com Is the solution to America's energy needs as simple as a trip to the beach? The idea is a fascinating one as a Florida man searching for a cancer cure may have stumbled onto a virtually limitless source of energy: salt water. John Kanzius, 63, is a broadcast engineer who formerly owned several TV and radio stations, before retiring in Sanibel Island, Fla. Five years ago, he was diagnosed with a severe form of leukemia, and began a quest to find a kinder, gentler way to treat the disease compared to harsh chemotherapy. In October 2003, he had an epiphany: kill cancer with radio waves. He then devised a machine that emits radio waves in an attempt to slay cancerous cells, while leaving healthy cells unharmed. His experiments in fighting cancer have become so successful, one physician was quoted as saying, "We could be getting close to grabbing the Holy Grail." But in the midst of his experiments as he was trying to take salt out of water, Kanzius discovered his machine could do what some may have thought was impossible: making water burn. "On our way to try to do desalinization, we came up with something that burns, and it looks in this case that salt water perhaps could be used as a fuel to replace the carbon footsteps that we've been using all these years, i.e., fossil fuels," Kanzius said. The possible ramifications of the discovery are almost mind-boggling, as cars could be fueled by salt water instead of gasoline, hydroelectric plants could be built along the shore, and homes could be heated without worrying about supplies of oil. "It doesn't have to be ocean salt water," Kanzius said. "It burns just as well when we add salt to tap water." Kanzius has partnered with Charles Rutkowski, general manager of Industrial Sales and Manufacturing, a Millcreek, Pa., company that builds the radio-wave generators. "I've done this [burning experiment] countless times and it still amazes me," Rutkowski told the Erie Times-News. "Here we are paying $3 a gallon for gas, and this is a device that seems to turn salt water into an alternative fuel." Kanzius has been told it's actually hydrogen that's burning, as his machine generates enough heat to break down the chemical bond between hydrogen and oxygen that makes up water. "I have never heard of such a thing," Alice Deckert, Ph.D., chairwoman of Allegheny College's chemistry department, told the Times-News. "There doesn't seem to be enough energy in radio waves to break the chemical bonds and cause that kind of reaction." Thus far, Kanzius' discovery has not received extensive national publicity, but has been featured on several local television news programs, including WPBF-TV in West Palm Beach, Fla., WSEE-TV in Erie, Pa., and WKYC-TV in Cleveland. "We discovered that if you use a piece of paper towel as a wick, it lights every single time and you can start it and stop it at will by turning the radio waves on and off," Kanzius told the Times-News as he watched a test tube of salt water burn. "And look, the paper itself doesn't burn," he added. "Well, it burns but the paper is not consumed." Kanzius said he hasn't decided whether to share his fuel discovery with government or private business, though he'd prefer a federal grant to develop it. "I'm afraid that if I join up with some big energy company, they will say it doesn't work and shelve it, even if it does work," Kanzius told the paper. Video of TV news reports of water burning can be seen from these affiliates: WPBF-TV in West Palm Beach, Fla. WSEE-TV in Erie, Pa. WKYC-TV in Cleveland
Is he right? Board administrator has deleted the suggestion you placed on the Yahoo! A Suggestion Board.? Reason provided: Suggestion is not actionable by owners of this Suggestion Board, therefore we are removing it. I had given the following as a Suggestion to the world as a free solution for a global problem. There is nothing abusive or personal or commercial about it. Still that BOARD ADMINISTRATOR has deleted my suggestion. Time Yahoo! woke up. What do you say? My Suggestion Board topic posted in Y!A: Stop misuse of electricity during day time-switch off bulbs-bring home SOLAR ENERGY is green, clean and freely available infinite energy for about 200 days in a year. But many of us misuse electricity for LIGHTING the interiors of homes/business places though solar energy is available just across our windows and doors. Burning bulbs during day time is a criminal waste of costly electricity;bulbs also contribute CO2 and global warming. Save energy- switch off bulbs, reduce CO2 - adopt World Bank honored Project U-SEE (Unlimited Saving of Electrical Energy) SAVINGS:-one bulb/tube light of 40 volts burning for 6 hours, consumes 8 units in a month. If 100,000 people can switch off, we can save 800,000 units of electricity in a month and in six months, we can save 4,800,000 units. and also thousands of tons of CO2 emission can be saved. Do not live in darkness. U-SEE is a simple solution for a global problem of scarcity. IMPLEMENTATION: locate a spot where maximum hours of sunshine will be available; keep a plastic chair, a pillow, a few pieces of waste thermostat or cardboard pieces and a mirror measuring 1' X 2' readu; open one window, keep the chair in the sun shining area, place pillow on it and the mirror on the pillow. Keep adjusting the angle of the mirror till such time that the deflected sun shine gets inside your home through the window and hits the white ceiling and fine tune the same. YOUR ROOM IS BEAUTIFULLY LIT UP WITH NATURAL LIGHT FROM THE CEILING. This suggestion was honored by the World Bank with a certificate of honor and a knowledge grant. browse: http://dmblog.worldbank.org/mirrors-can-bring-light-rural-homes Earlier also this kind of arbitrary removal by Yahoo! Bored Administrators has been resorted to and the community has expressed concern; but I ain't satisfied. What u say Yahoo! This answer from Yahoo! is from FAQ stock replies. I would humbly submit that I am still not convinced by the answer. There is nothing objectionable about a novel suggestion to the people to save electricity and whatever contact details I have given is to make the effort of of people that much easier for implementation of the suggestion U-SEE - it will not be out of place if it is mentioned that a highly respected body like World Bank has honored and if there was anything objectionable or profane etc., as yahoo has contended, then the World Bank would not have touched my subject with a barge pole. Let me hope that this clarification will enlighten Yahoo and the suggestion is allowed on Suggestion Board.

I gave my full intention to shop with my elder brother .But now even after more than 10 yrs. I am not satisfied with my proffession .I have very much creative mind . If given proper guidance I can also develop new improved designs of many products.I was topper in my collage and my drawing was very good in engineering .I have deep interest in challenges to new innovations. But in shop my all talent is waistfull. Now I am married and I fear to give a big shock to my carrier.I am afraid that if I will shift my carrier at this age I will be in big trouble to survive because it is too late. My wife is a govt. teacher .So it is not possible for me to shift my family at too far place to get a new job.I also give tution of English speaking in part time only. My interests are: 1.I like creative works. 2.I like new design development of mechanical products. 3.I like the logics of programming in computer. 4.I like to make big business deal like wholesale than retailing . 5.I like to be truthfull and honest througout the life. 6.I have read many personality books of indian and foreign authors. 7.I like to work hard My deficiencies are: 1.I am of shying nature and less social but like to be truthfull and simple. 2.I am confused presently to what to do and what not to do? 3.I am regretting of my past decisions to join the home business than to join a mechanical job. 4.Because of less satisfaction in carrier ,I remain depressed My questions are: 1.Should I try to join a mechanical job ? 2.Should I change my field from mechanical to something else, which is easily adoptable for me and which is economically sound field? 3.should I try to go foreign country ? 4.if yes, In which country I should try to go and how should I try? 5.Should I join partime distance education in Punjab Technical University learning center which is offering me the admission in 2nd year in BSc.(IT),for my graduation part time .I can proceed further for MBA or MCA . Can a simple act of kindness save a life? Tom Drucker wore a haggard expression as he slipped the key from the knob and shed his hat and coat. "Hi honey," he said absently, setting his briefcase in the nook by the closet. "Hi," Celia replied. "Is something wrong?" she asked, noting her husband's unusual introspection with concern. "No," Tom said, moving into the living room to sit by his wife. "No, nothing's wrong. A former student of mine, a Miss Sandy Palmer, came to see me after school today." "What did she want?" Celia asked, still concerned. "She showed up in my room as I was cleaning up for the day. She introduced herself and said she was in my class four years ago. She showed me where she used to sit. But I didn't remember her." Tom sighed thoughtfully. "I asked her what I could do for her. She said, 'I just wanted to thank you.' I smiled and asked, 'For what?' "She seemed troubled and did not answer right away. When she spoke, she was visibly shaken. 'When I was in your class,' she said, 'I was going through a real hard time in my life. My parents had divorced the previous year, and I lived with my father. He used to...abuse me.' She seemed terribly uncomfortable. I told her she didn't need to continue, but she insisted and said, 'It's ok. I told myself I would say this, and I think I need to.' I nodded politely and gave her my attention. "'One evening, I hit rock bottom,' she said. 'I hated my life. I hated being alive. My father would be on a business trip the next day -- he was going to leave early and come home late. Before I left for school, I took out a roll of tape and patched up every hole and crack in the garage that I could find. I was going to go to school, and when I came home, I'd lock myself in the garage, start the car, and curl up with my teddy bear until everything was gone.' "'What made you change your mind?' I asked her. "'That day, in English class -- your class -- you were handing back papers. You went around to each desk, returning graded essays. When you got to me, you put your hand on my shoulder -- a friendly gesture that probably meant nothing to you -- and told me that I had done a good job. You probably don't even remember. But that gesture of kindness saved my life. It told me that there was kindness in the world, that not everyone was like my father. It showed me that I was good at something, that my life was maybe worth something. You saved my life, Mr. Drucker. And that's why I had to come back to talk to you. I had to come back to thank you.' "I was speechless," Tom told his wife. "I didn't know what you say to her. So I smiled and kind of nodded to her. And then she rummaged in the bag at her side and pulled something out. 'I want you to have this,' she said. It was her teddy bear. 'I want you to have this to remember what a wonderful thing you've done for me.' "'Thank you,' I said. I didn't know what else to say." Celia pursed her lips, contemplating her husband's story. "It sounds like you did a wonderful thing. So what still worries you?" Tom shook his head and sighed. "She was really ugly." "Aw, poor honey," Celia consoled. "I mean, she was a dog, and she spoke so slowly. I had to look at her so for long while she went through that spiel. I hate looking at ugly people, but what could I do? I couldn't exactly leave." "Aw," Celia said again, slipping her arms around him. "And what if some other ugly student comes in tomorrow with a sob story?" Tom continued. "I don't know if I could handle that." "Well, no sense worrying about the future," Celia advised, resting her head against his chest. "The important thing is that you're home now, and you can look at me." "Thank goodness for that," Tom said, returning the embrace. "That's why I married you, after all." "You're so sweet, honey."

Anyone familiar with college management class..intro to business...doing case studies? i'm confused on how to do the case study. Mark Juarez Case What to Make of a New Product In March 1991 Mark Juarez, an American, was living in Berlin, Germany, where he worked under contract as a masseur. He had invented a product that he found helpful in his work and was considering what to do with it. The product consisted of five wooden balls, four small ones approximately one inch in diameter that were connected to a larger one, about two inches in diameter, with wooden dowels that angled out about one inch each form the bottom of the large ball, as can be seen in the sketch of Exhibit 1. In use, the product was gripped by a masseur as an aid in transmitting pressure to the client, reducing the strain on the masseur’s hand while applying the pressure more firmly at the same time. It had been well-received by a few of Mark’s colleagues, to whom he had given copies, and by their customers. How, he wondered, should he apply his time and very limited personal financial resources? Should he pursue licensing, manufacturing, patenting or investigating whether there were already other such products on the market, and if so with what sequence of specific actions? Or should he simply stick to his massage work and let his simple product find its own way into whatever market might or might not exist? What would be involved in creating a company to produce and sell it, and how might such things best be done, if that were the chosen path? Background Mark had held a number of different jobs prior to his present occupation. In the mid-1970s he studied marketing at Chabot Community College in California while working nine months for a wine company followed by seven months with ARA Services, a national company providing laundry services for institutions and restaurants. In early 1977 he began working in sales for a company that marketed energy efficient air conditioning systems for the home. Although successful, Mark felt by 1978 that his life was unrewarding and his lifestyle incompatible with his ideas. He took an unexpected leave for two weeks and just drove up and down the West Coast. He then decided to quit his job and flew to Europe to travel and explore. Ten of the next 15 years, he spent in Europe working odd jobs in his travels. Whenever he ran out of money, he would go back to America and work to save enough to go back to Europe. During these return visits to the United States, he started a landscaping company, sold for a company that made “environmentally correct” living/work spaces, and participated in other small ventures. In Berlin during 1987 Mark became interested in massage. At first, he thought it would be difficult to learn locally, since he did not speak German and did not have much money to pay for massage classes. But a massage teacher who encouraged him to learn more about massage explained that massage could be learned regardless the language barrier, because massage was about touch and the body, both universal subjects. To further encourage Mark, the massage teacher offered him a job at the massage school. By year end Mark was a certified massage therapist. Eventually, he too became a massage teacher. He also learned that traditional techniques of massage were very tiring to the hands. Many massage therapists developed carpal tunnel syndrome, a painful illness of the hands and forearms. One February morning in 1991, through a vision in a dream, Mark conceived of a device that might help with his work. He envisaged a wooden ball with four wooden legs and little wooden balls on the ends of each leg. He also envisioned having a smiley face on the big wooden ball. He told a friend of his idea and she encouraged him to go to a “wood dollar,” a person who carves wood on a lathe, who could make the pieces for his design. With the help of a wood dollar, some prototypes were completed, and Mark tried them on his students. The students said they loved the device and the following week requested more copies of it for their friends. Mark built more, and enthusiasm and demand for the new massage tool increased. Because of this student interest Mark began to think about protecting his design idea by seeking a patent. He visited an American patent attorney in Berlin. The patent attorney quoted a cost of $4000 for “researching” the patent. This task was not to be confused with actually filing to receive a patent on the new device. It would simply look through the records of prior American patents to ascertain whether the same product features had been patented in the U.S. before. If it had not, then Mark could try to obtain a patent, which would cost considerably more. Should he, as a result, be granted a patent, he would then have the right to sue anyone who imitated the product in the country where the patent was issued and claim that they were violating his patent. If the patent court then agreed, he could prevent further such imitation Questions: Case Study Questions Provide thoughtful and complete answers (minimum of 3 double spaced pages to maximum of 5 double spaced pages total for the entire assignment) to the questions below.
